I'm not sure why you'd need one that dings-beeps. You can't overcook the rice because it shuts off automatically, and the rice stays hot forever.

Hitachi doesn't make the traditional, old time Chime O Matic any longer, from what I'm told.. but E-bay occasionally has a few.

You could always set the timer on your phone.

My rice cooker makes a pop up sound like a toaster when it is ready..But does it really make a difference..The rice cooker keeps the rice warm until you are ready to eat.

I like to unplug it. I think the warming feature is overkill, and unnecessary.

It's fine if you make a ton of rice for a party gumbo where folks might make a bowl now and an hour or so later, but yeah if it's just a family eating dinner there's no need to leave plugged in

ETA: also is eBay the only place to get that hitachi chime o matic? That's the exact one my parents have had for the better part of three decades

My sister was obsessed with finding a Chime o Matic replacement for her vintage cooker that finally died. I had one with a ding, gave it to her, but it had the "wrong" ding. Someone found a Chime O Matic for her at a garage sale.
