I've had a couple of close calls that could have easily been averted if the restaurant I was dining in had a restroom.

I've only seen it in larger cities but it happens.

before dat dog moved, I had to go really bad, and wound up having to go behind a building.

I think any place that serves food should have a bathroom for customers

No. I'm talking about a sit down full service restaurant with no bathroom. I've seen dozens of them.

Not in Louisiana...the state sanitary code specifies the number of restroom facilities required per patron count.

Here's the sanitary code, if you want to dig into it. Table listing minimum plumbing fixtures for various public establishments is on page 325: LINK

I'm almost certain it is the same for MS.

No restroom, No restaurant.

There aren't any very large cities in LA so pretty sure I wasn't talking about there

Cause Seattle's whopping 600K qualifies it as a "large city"? LOL. You can bet that if LA's practically antique regulations prohibit it, then it's prohibited in most places. It's a basic public health issue.

In some jurisdictions, even food trucks have to provide for a nearby public restroom for their patrons.

I'm pretty sure Anthony's Italian Deli doesn't have one. If they do, I certainly can't figure out where it is or how you would get to it without going through the prep area.

No but there are restaurants with a single stall unisex bathroom that makes it incredibly awkward if you need to take a crap.. Baru comes to mind
