There's a woman/family that sell great tamales at the Monks Park farmers market on Sat mornings.

Go where the Hispanics eat

La Mexicana on Siegen near Big Lots
La Tienda on Siegen and Cloverland
Dos Hermanos on Sharp Road near Florida

I've also hear Montalbano's Seafood makes some badass ones.

ETA: The best ones I've had are at the food truck park thing in Prairieville. The lady's last name was Castillo, but I can't remember her first name.

El Potrillo in Laffy has them on the menu. IDK if they are any good.

There's a lady that usually sells them by the Lowes in Carencro on the weekends. They are fire.

Are you talking about Delta tamales or traditional Mexican tamales?

Same Urdiales family, so probably very similar recipes.

I didn't know there was a difference but now I think you got to the heart of what I'm looking for, and I wanted to try searching local restaurants.

I had these tamales at a restaurant in Mississippi that's owned and operated by Mexicans. These tamales were smoother and the texture was more refined than what I'm used to having.

So based on the difference between the two, I think these were Mexican tamales.

Same.. when I was younger, my mom and I would go once every couple of weeks. The bean dip was awesome. I knew Carlos and his wife very well.
