Make sure you hit Curate restaurant. It is expensive but a great time.

Booked up for 3 weeks. Won’t be able to make it.

Swapped out bouchon for Jetti Rae’s oyster house. The menu looks pretty good. Voted #1 on TripAdvisor 2021 apparently.

We did Zambra and it was fantastic. It’s also tapas.

That was on the list to replace bouchon. Zambra, jetti rae, or red ginger. The Instagram pics for jetti Rae won me over.

Every time I’ve eaten at Curate it’s been at the bar. You may be able to snag a seat there. May be harder with 2 people though

Zebulon Ales in Weaverville is 10-15 minutes north of downtown, they do some interesting stuff, it’s some mixed fermentation and some odd styles. We enjoyed it, it’s a tiny place and they have a big dog to hang out with. There’s a narwhal painted on the bar too.

The Zebulon folks (husband and wife) are from New Orleans. There is also another brewery right across the street from them. Only open on the weekends last time I was up there.

Probably a stupid question, but are bike racks readily available throughout the city at the breweries? Was planning on biking from the hotel to breweries during the day.

It has been 6 months since the last time I went, but I don't remember ever seeing a bunch around any of the breweries. Not to say there weren't any at all, just not anything more than normal in any city.

Drive out to Fonta Flora. Great hiking out that way and Morganton is a swell town.

Dinner at Red Stag Grill

We had a great week in Asheville last week. This meal was outstanding. The elk and the USDA Prime Plus ribeye special were my two favorites, but we also had the antelope chop and the bison sirloin. Elk carpaccio was the appetizer that stood out the most.

The hotel and the restaurant were gorgeous. May have to look at staying there for some of our next stay. It's just a bit further out than we would prefer.

Also did Tupelo Honey, Early Girl (meh), Itto, Sierra Nevada (food was okay, space was awesome), Limones, Burial (their food is great for a brewery), Bhramari, and Zambra. I did a couple places by myself -- Marked Tree wine tasting room, and The Montford (incredible views).

Our VRBO was in a hisotric building on top of a bakery/cafe open each morning, a nice restaurant open at night that we didn't get to try, and a butcher shop we hit up that was pretty cool. Waking up to biscuits baking every morning was difficult. They were very good.

The mp4 I inserted seems to work on mobile, but not computer. Dang.

The scenery is unmatched.

How did the mask thing work out for y'all? The mandate was extended, but only one business the entire week said a word about it. We didn't mask pretty much anywhere, and nobody cared. Not that we would have made a big deal about it either way.

How was Limones? Heading back to Asheville in December and that’s on the list to check out.

It was really great. We got a couple of the ceviche trios and the braised short rib Gordita. Friend got the steak, and it was great.

Wide variety of margs as well.
