Ralph & Kacoos on Bluebonnet: closed for renovations
Passed by the location on Bluebonnet and saw a sign that said closed for renovations. Anyone know if they are actually doing renovations or closing for good?

Been “closed for renovations” for a month or so at least. If you didn’t see a construction gate, any material staging, construction garbage dumpster, etc. I think you have your answer.

Why don't they just be honest and admit they're out of business

Shockingly enough, they’re actually renovating. Not sure if it’s the best idea but they are.

Article about it back in July

Ralph & Kacoo’s has closed on Bluebonnet Boulevard for an extensive remodel, and the general manager said other options also are being considered, including selling or moving the longtime Baton Rouge seafood restaurant.

“We don’t know what’s going to be done,” said Blake Hood, general manager. “We know a lot of things need to be fixed.”

The building at 6110 Bluebonnet Blvd. has a number of problems that include pipe and roof issues and a need for stucco replacement. Brandon Couvillon, a district manager for Great Texas Foods, which owns Ralph & Kacoo’s, said there was no way the work could go on while the restaurant was open.

I used to work there almost 2 decades ago and objectively speaking it's too big of a building for a restaurant. I don't know how they've been able to keep the doors open this long.

Once the olinde's sold the business it has never been the same...back in the day there would be an hour wait or more at times...

When it was built they lived in the back in a large apartment. They took that idea from Joe Distafano who owned Jack Sabin's and when he built his new restaurant he built a large apartment in it as well. That building is now the Baton Rouge Scientology Center or whatever they call it.

I worked on both buildings.
