No commercial brewing experience is generally a bad thing. You don't just scale up that 5 gallon ipa your friends love to 15 barrels by multiplying 5 by 31*15. Some folks make it work but a lot just sale horrible beer hoping to dial it in before they go broke.

Exactly. This looks like an investor project which is ok if you hire somebody that actually knows how to make good beer.

To often though they go on the cheap and the beer is shite.

I'm glad Parish didn't listen to this kind of talk.

I'm not saying there won't be some issues out of the gate, but others have figured it out.

I like Hyla. It's a good beer. Happy to see it canned. The rest of the offerings just don't really interest me though. They've had some other decent one off beers, but it's a decent trek for me to get to their taproom to try them out.

I have tried to like the offerings from Southern Craft but they are just awful to me. For the amount of time that they have been brewing, I was hoping to finally like something they brew but that's a BIG negative.

I recently picked up a pack of Hyla from the store when they released them into cans and could not finish one from the pack. Anyone want the rest?

Hyla cans were awful. Just an oxidized mess. It's still a decent beer on tap though.

Location is a block away from a shooting range. Get some suds and go shoot some. That's a fun day.

My old office was in the Industriplex area, sometimes if I got turned around up in there, I couldn't find my way out.

Rally Cap Brewing was founded by Kevin Whalen, former Vice President of Casino Operations at L’Auberge Casino Hotel Baton Rouge. A long-time homebrewer, Whalen is anxious to contribute to the growing craft beer culture in the Baton Rouge Area, noting “our beer is ‘hand crafted for the home team’ and our home team is the Baton Rouge community”.

Sounds like someone with a hobby and too much money. Hopefully he used some of that money to hire the right people.

Would like to see BR have a good brewery.

Let me guess, you wrote off Tin Roof years ago and haven’t given them a shot since? Voodoo and Parade Ground are mainstays in my fridge.

Not so much wrote them off as I moved years ago and don't really have the opportunity to try any of their stuff.

They were definitely awful when they first started, but if they've found their stride and improved then I'm glad to hear it.

Their rollout and next few years since the rollout was pretty awful. They went through multiple managers and brewers before they somewhat righted the ship.

Newest Voodoo is much better than the previous junk they were putting out. It doesn't occupy fridge space, but i'll drink one if the offerings are slim. Not saying it's terrible, I just prefer some of the other local beers to Voodoo. Haven't tried parade ground in a while. It was awful, IMO, the last 3 years. Glad they are fixing things there and I hope they continue to get better.
