I drink a lot of south american malbecs.

My go to, casillero Del Diablo. It isn't tbe best.

But it is what I buy the most of.

It’s not? I’m not a big drinker but I always found wine to be stronger than beer.

I was looking online the other day at cases of wine that are kinda randomly assorted so that people can sample different types of wine and see what they like.

Does anybody recommend a good places to purchase this kind of thing?

Kenwood Jack London Cabernet. Consistently good, so I won't list the vintage.

On special occasions I bring out a bottle of Domaine Leroy Richebourg Grand Cru 1949 that was given to me as a gift.

Did you get a case of these? How many times can you bring it out, yet still have any of it remaining?

I like all dark reds. I also like to buy lots of new ones to try. There are some fairly decent cheaper wines. I'm a fan of Rex Goliath wines...and a recent one that's fairly new is 19 crimes, or something like that.

For merlot I like Decoy.

For cab I found Coppola’s director’s cut Cabernet Sauvignon is very delicious.

I only stick with merlot and cab though.

Boone's is fine if the situation calls for it.

As far as wine I probably have a hundred fifty to two hundred bottles.

It's to the point where it's mounted on racks that are mounted to the wall of the hallway.

I forgot, there's a Santa Christina 2014 Chianti that is now in my rotation.

Anything from Howell Mountain or similar altitude and appellation.

While those CA wines can be $$$$, I’ve found some similar ones from Argentina and Chile that weren’t too expensive.

Another poster said Paraduxx, loved visiting that winery. It’s a shame they don’t have more available in LA than the $45 proprietary red I’ve seen for a few months.

Same. A full 66 bottle rack in my liquor closet, an almost full 100 bottle rack in my pantry, and a full to the gills wine refrigerator with about 50. Just counted and it's 192 (some of it is 3 buck chuck and 5 buck oak leaf for cooking).

My go to wines are Morgan 12 Clones Pinot Noir, Morgan Shiraz, Durant & Booth Red Blend, Meiomi Pinot Noir (this stuff is really good for $20 after it has been open for an hour or so), and Marilyn Merlot.

Only been drinking wine for a few years, so it seems like every bottle is a new experience.

It's sometimes difficult to figure out all of the "flavors" that are supposed to be there. It's probably because 25 years of smoking (quit 9 years ago) zapped my taste buds.

To the OP: Download the Vivino app. It's pretty good for finding wines and whether or not you are paying too much.

Reds : all of the SIMI labels are really good. Their merlot and their cab are both top notch for a respectable price. I also found meeker cab is a really good bottle for about $20.

White : I keep a bottle of barefoot Pinot Grigio for me and a bottle of barefoot moscato for the wife on hand. Those are both $6 a bottle and are both really good IMO.

Pretty much the only thing I'll buy.

Everydays:
Cab - freakshow, josh,
Pinot - la crema (sanoma), meomi
Conundrum

Step up a notch:
Caymus cab, Robert biale black chicken zin, The Prisoner blend, saldo zin, Jordan cab, martinelli guiseppe & luisa

You really can find some good bottles for pretty cheap. We have a great wine store where I live with a very knowledgeable owner. Tell him what you like and he can point you in the right direction for the amount you want to spend.
