I haven't bought one since Catering Kegs was in business and every formal had Party Pics. (Some of you will remember them)

I don't have a kegerator nor do I want one as my liver couldn't stand it. But I have a function that will be where no electricity is anyway and would like to get a couple small ones.

So...where? What do I do for a tap? What size are the small kegs these days? I'd like say an Envie, maybe a Commotion. Can I dare ask if I can get Ghost?

What does everyone suggest? In a couple of weeks.

rent the tap where you get the keg
1/4 barrels & 1/2 barrels are most common

1/2 barrel is the "common" keg, about 16 gallons

Can't get a ghost.

Likely can't get the others, you'll have to get one of the local liquor stores to order you one. a 1/4 barrel is the smaller keg. You can rent a tap from most places that sell kegs, along with a trash can to put it in if you want to go that route.

ETA: Your best bet is hocus pocus in pville. Give them a call and theyll tell you what they have on hand and or what they can order and how long it will take. Albertsons use to order as well but I haven't gotten one from them in about 5 years.

We get 1/6 kegs up here from Total Wine. Great size for small groups or just to have.

Talked to Kelly at Hocus Pocus. She doesn't have taps but can get kegs. Said maybe Envie but that would be work but thought Commotion would be accessible.

I've never been in there so I'll stop in tomorrow. Thanks.

I want to get a couple of good beers. If I can't I'll just can and bottle those two.

Check with your favorite watering hole(bar)where the beer you want is served on tap. Maybe they will accommodate you. Then just rent a tap or better yet a cold plate separately.

Ah ok, didn't realize they didn't have taps, you can pick one up on prime for pretty cheap.

I got a kegerator 6 years ago and use to try and keep something in it, just got to be a pain to get anything besides BMC and an occasional Abita. Just usually go bottles for parties now and get stuff I don't mind being left with if it doesn't get drank.

Good luck to you, id give an Albertsons a call for the heck of it too, I got a canebreak keg from the one on highland and airline a few years back.

I talked to Parish and I can get the 1/6 from them with 2 weeks notice on Envie. I have people heading to this from there I might work that but yeah I might just can and bottle. Then I can get a lot of others as well plus people will bring since I hate to tote the note for my drunk friends. I'll let you know what I end up doing. Thanks.

Man, didn't know that Catering Kegs closed down. Shame, they were the cheapest place for a keg in town. And they rented cool taps rather than the cheap nozzle spout tap.

I don't think they have been around for quite some time.

Martini, la homebrew rents jockey boxes, I believe.

Also, I have a tap for a sankey keg if you need to borrow it. You would only need a dispenser after that, which is what you can get from la Homebrew. They also have cheap plastic ones you can buy over there that might work as well.

A sixtel keg is roughly 40 16oz pours. If you use a hand pump and introduce oxygen to the keg it will start to oxidize in hours. Beer will start to taste flat and papery.

Hell Yeah, I remember Party Pics. I had plenty, but I've been away from BR for over 10 years so I had no input on the keg questions.
