Hello all. First, yes, I did read ALL 753 pages of this thread starting around Mardi Gras. I started dieting then. Right in the middle of Mardi Gras weekend I decided to quit drinking totally. I would usually go through a case of beer or 5th of something in 4-5 days, and then go out social drinking on the weekends. Stopping cold turkey on the booze has been the best decision. I was always a very lean guy at 5' 10" and never had any muscle mass to speak of. I started out at 172 the Sunday before Mardi Gras as "skinny fat". I started dieting first, no exercise. As mentioned at the beginning of this great thread, I wanted to make a lifestyle change. So I started slowly. Last month I began doing pushups. I wanted a workout that I could always do indoors be it rain/cold/hurricane, no excuses. I've added a few things since and I have biceps and triceps now! I do everything incredibly slow to keep form and do not worry about sets, I go till I can't anymore. I workout 5 days a week for 30-40 minutes right after work. The other two days are usually to give my body a break. Keeping it simple has been the plan for me. I do not give myself a cheat day, but Easter I eased up and was sorry I did. I go to work incredibly early and skip breakfast. I've been on IF for the entire time. I'm down to a 32" waist and couldn't be happier with Keto. Im not too sure how far to go, but my goal before Lent was 150. This thread has kept me going so far. So:

When I say, "Ditto" holy crap I mean ditto. I could have posted this EXACT post word for word, number for number. Kind of creepy!

Welcome to all the new people!
So a few weeks ago I took s 2.5 or so week break from counting macros. Still hit the gym hard and didn't go out of control on food, but I also wasn't very strict. I wanted to sort of reset all my hormones. Didn't really add any weight. Mostly water. It's amazing how your body will naturally just eat to maintenance if you just listen to it rather than stuffing your face.
Anyway, I'm 1 week into a potential 3-4 week cut. At which point I will then transition into a 6 or so week slow bulk. (I know, contradictory to this thread. But I've achieved my first goal, now time to enter the next step).

week 2 of p90x3 started today. I've been waking up about 5:30ish every morning to get in my workout instead of doing it when I come home in the afternoon. Man it's nice being able to get that workout done first thing in the morning so I can just take it easy after work.

I'm trying to eat a few more calories now pushing them up to around 2k or a little more depending on how the day goes. the p90x guide tells me I should be eating around 3k, but after being at 1500ish for nearly a year now, the thought of suddenly doubling my calories scares the crap out of me, so I'm being extra careful to make sure I eat more but not gorging myself on shite.

I agree with everything you said. I much prefer waking up in the morning to do my workout and get it out of the way. Plus I feel so much better during the day.
And I'm glad you upped your cals. I would never suggest doing P90X at only 1500. And you're doing it right by slowly increasing. Most body builders, that do it right, reverse diet. Which is basically the same thing. Slowly re introduce carbs and cals back into their diet. I would still suggest going up higher, but add a little each week.
Keep up the good work. You're killing it

I'm actually doing a bit of the opposite with regard to carbs. I've been consuming carbs regularly for the entire year I've been on nutrisystem. I'm now cutting them out to go more low carb / high protein. What carbs I am going to get will be coming in the form of carrots/tomatoes and the occasional sandwich roll thing that I eat now...maybe some fruit mixed in occasionally. No more shite carbs though, which are readily available via nutrisystem in the form of their snacks.

I'm definitely going to have to up the calories slowly and I fully intend to. I can already tell a difference in how hungry I am throughout the day...especially with this workout routine.

Sure glad I posted first then!

Slight uptick this am, but it was a long, hard weekend. Down I go.

Another fun morning of running around the spare bedroom like a chicken with its head cut off. My dog came in to investigate what was going on and saw me going all Daniel Larusso and ran back to get in the bed when he almost got kicked in the head
