I know Myth, I completely understand why you do it and it's very admirable, most people wouldn't have the discipline to maintain that. I edited right after I posted it.

Its funny all the talk about sodium latlely. I recently have been noticing my choices as of late have sort of high sodium counts. But no high blood pressure here so no problem right?

BTW what is an acceptable daily sodium intake?

Keep on keeping on.

RDA is 2400mgs for healthy adults and only 1500mgs for middle aged and people with health issues.

Me too. I eat a few cans of Campbell's Healthy Request or Low Sodium Chunky soups a week. They usually have 200-250 cals/can. I add some shrimp, tuna, or chicken to them to get the protein up and a handful of fresh spinach. Really easy meal for me to bring to work.

but, and i am sure tigermyth will back me on this, you have to be reasonable about the sodium you take in and continue to monitor your blood pressure ... sodium makes you retain water .. this is what can drive your blood pressure up ... i don't have any real problems health wise and have been blessed with a ridiculously high metabolism, but i do still watch my caloric intake per day .. everyone should do this .. and i do pay attention to how much sodium i take in .. like myth said, 2400 mg a day is a good number .. my doctor says i am OK at 3000 or less, but i try to stick to 2400 ... sodium is the silent killer in this equation, fellas .. you really need to watch calories AND sodium -- whether you are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy lifestyle ... for example .. look at the ingredients in those cans of soup .. you can make huge pots of that stuff on your own and put it in the fridge and freezer .. in the can, it is loaded with salts, because salt is a preservative .. before refrigeration, meat was packed in salt to preserve it ... that is where you get the ridiculously high sodium count in something that seems so healthy ... hell, make your own soup .. it isn't hard .. i see myth does it and that's very good .. then, you can control how much salt you put in it and pay attention to the sodium contents of everything you put in it ... just my .02 .. keep an eye on that sodium, even if your BP is normal .. there's no guarantee it will stay there ...

217.8 lbs this AM. Getting close to the 40 pound mark

I don't keep track of it (sodium), but the only days I think it would be high are the days I eat canned soup, which is only 2-3 days a week usually. And i check my blood pressure every week, if I would see it rising I would adjust my diet, but so far I haven't.

Been cracking a little this weekend.

Tried on Saturday to get some people to go to dinner but everyone had plans. Foiled.

Called my sister to have lunch with her and watch the Saints game but she had to work. Foiled.

Someone up there is trying to keep me from cheating this weekend.

323/225.3

I'm also stuck on a damn plateau which is making those cracks form......

snowed in here today in nashville..3" or so outside and wind chill was -3 a few minutes ago on the news. i gotta watch it..i like to make a big arse crockpot full of chili on cold days when i'm in and out all day making snowmen with the kids..and last time i did that i gained about 3 lbs over a 2 day period that took 2 weeks to get it off. i guess eating an entire crockpot of chili wasn't the best idea..but it slipped up on me..everytime i came inside i'd whip up a bowl with sour cream and cheese and onions on top to warm me up..do this enough times in a single day and its horrifying how much you find yourself putting away.

I've been dying for a big crock pot of stew.

I did decide that calories be damned I am buying some eggnog to enjoy around Christmas. That eggnog thread broke me willpower.
