Same here, I was terrible this weekend. Last night I had way too much sodium, but ended up down another couple pounds.

This may sound weird, but reading this thread is kind of like reading a book to me. I'm on page 122 now, and it's crazy how I feel a part of everything that happened the past almost 2 years
You, Myth, Cad, etc have been kicking arse! Seeing you not give up, especially after what you've gone through is a huge motivation for me. You had an excuse to stop, but you didn't, and now you're on the verge of 100 pounds lost!!

I was told i could find help here so oh great and powerful Sages of the Puttadaforkdown thread, I beseech you:
My girlfriend loves and I mean loves chips and salsa but she knows the chips are a big obstacle to losing weight. Not eating salsa is not an option, I think it's her blood type. What's a better alternative to chips? Pita chips? Lay down the wisdom....

Just had an awesome dinner. Ground turkey lettuce wrap. Great taco substitute and only 3g carbs
Workout kicked my arse tonight!

What kind of lettuce do you use for your wraps?
Posted on 4/25/12 at 9:51 pm to LSUGUMBO
Fresh romaine hearts
We also made a homemade taco seasoning so we were able to limit the sodium a lot. My first time eating ground turkey, and I have to say, I couldn't tell a difference at all. I ate 3 wraps and I'm still only at 1300 calories for the day.
It's been super hard to cut down on carbs and sodium. It seems no matter how hard I try, I end up with some hidden sodium and get above 2500 for the day, and something has more carbs than I think and I'm at 30 or so for the day.
I did just get some whey protein meal shakes that should cut down on carbs for breakfast and whenever else I decide to have one.

Sodium is very hard to limit. You basically need to eat all fresh food.
I keep it under 2k most days, some even as low as 1500. A huge chunk of my sodium comes from the cheese slice I put on my morning turkey burger.
Then I do use some hot sauce or sriracha. Tabasco is good to spice things up because it has the least sodium of the major hot sauces.
Deli meats are terrible. Sausage is loaded with sodium.
Who knew eating healthy was such a pain in the arse.
Back in the day when I was at 330, I now estimate I was hitting around 6k sodium a day. Some days even more.

yea, it's a bitch!
I use sriracha on everything. It's so damn good, but that's the only thing I ever add to my food if I do at all. It's so good on scrambled or hard boiled eggs.
the main sodium today came from deli turkey and a couple pieces of beef jerky I had as a snack, so without those, I cut 1300mg of sodium out, and without those, I'm under the limit. It's really eye opening when you start counting these things.
At least I had a real nice sweat session for a good 30 minutes today. I was drenched after I finished. Felt soo good to get my heart pumping like that
I guess 29 carbs isn't too much higher than 20. Is that 20 a hard cutoff as far as the induction phase of Atkins goes, or it is lenient at all? I feel like if I can shred 15 or so pounds fairly fast, I'd be at my goal and I could maintain it/build some muscle.
Either way, I'm staying with this eating lifestyle. I just feel better throughout the day when I'm eating healthy.
I know, TL;DR

Quite honestly, I wouldn't be overly concerned with your sodium intake unless you have BP problems. Sodium doesn't cause the problems, but it makes them worse. Myth has BP problems so he has to carefully monitor that.. I'm not saying dump salt all over everything, but don't be afraid to season your food. I use tony's/sriracha on just about everything. Some people's advice is to make your food bland and taste bad so you don't eat as much.. meh. To each their own, I like my food seasoned.

speaking of sodium. broke down and ordered fried shrimp. each one was like a fried salt pill. could barely taste the shrimp. cheat wasted.
As sensei is quick to point, we often use sodium to blame for upward scale movements. What he won't acknowledge is that the water retention it causes does cause upward scale movenment.

I haven't seen the 280's in over two years. Hopefully I have forever said goodbye to 290+.
Had a blood test on Monday and got the results back today.
LDL - 127
HDL - 33
Triglycerides - 90
Total - 171
They do want me to go back because my liver test was high. AST was 45 and ALT - 96. They want to do more blood work and an ultrasound. I think the ultrasound is BS, those levels are higher than average but not super high.
I call bs because they told my wife the same exact thing last month and she got the ultrasound too. Of course everything came back normal. Which it probably will for me too.

I have cut out using straight salt on everything, but I don't think I could ever get rid of Tonys or sriracha
Anyways, what I've been doing is working though
196/190.4/170
6 pounds since Sunday. It appears the super fast metabolism I've had my whole life is still with me. When I was in high school, it was nothing if I lost this much overnight because of how active I was, no matter what I ate so it's nice to see I can lose similarly by cutting my diet down and running.

I have been at a training class in TN all week and they have fed us like kings, not to mention the whole class drinking tons of beer each night at the hotel. I have tried to stick to low carb, but it has been a struggle. Every restaurant we went to, multiple appetizer samplers were ordered as soon as we sat down.
I am scared to get on the scale when i get home. I will be back late tonight and will probbly fast til Monday.
When i left home sunday 330/267/230
Currently 330/???/230. Its gonna be bad.
