I try to avoid all of the following:
Bread, Rice, Pasta, Chips, Crackers & Potatoes

I'm not generally tempted by sweets, but when I am the Jello Mousse Sensations are only 60 calories & are great. I just discovered them. Now I have an alternative to Cocoa Almonds for a dessert.

I am in awe of someone avoiding carbs! I can't do it. My husband didn't think you can lose weight without giving up carbs. I proved him wrong!

I wouldn't last a week living without bread & potatoes.

I've been successful losing weight without giving up carbs, thankfully!

More tips for the new person:

Drink lots of water and read the nutritional information on what you are eating. Foods that you assume are healthy (especially salad dressings) are not always healthy, especially in restaurants.

ProudLSUMom:

Giving up carbs was hard, but after about 4 days carb-free, I felt so much better. I lost 6 lbs. or so the 1st week. No other weight loss plan worked for me.

I think it's the caloric intake that really matters, though. You are obviously keeping your calories low enough to lose weight. Keep up the good work!

I gave up pretty much all of those too. I miss rice the most. Gonna tear up some rice dressing on Thanksgiving though

This is mainly how I ease my sweet tooth:

I keep some protein bars that I can throw in my booksack for snacks on class days too. Satisfy my chocolate cravings and are healthy.

I've been doing mostly low carb, but since I have been on this dang diet for 8 months, I have varied the menu from time to time. For a while I was eating beans and rice.

I think I have had bread a few times early in the diet. Had chips a couple time when I went out with friends to Mexican restaurants. Had fries once when I went out with friends.

I told myself from day one, I would bust my arse on this diet, but it would only work if I could relax and eat what I wanted when I went out with friends or family.

Now, that doesn't mean I went crazy and I did limit my trips out. I have been in full to partial hermit mode since I started this diet.

I had my old college roommate in town for two nights this week, so I did stray from the diet but nothing too bad. Crawfish Etoufee one night and Shrimp Etoufee last night.

I did bounce up a tad but oh well.

Sid: I hope you will get that surge of energy soon from low carbing. Oh, yeah -- and the big week 1 weight loss!

SW2SCLA: I'll have to pick up some sugar free popsicles to try -- only 15 calories is a definite plus.

I highly recommend it. They taste great for 15 calories. Wal-Mart always has them, but I find other stores around me don't always carry the sugar free. They also have a tropical box with 3 different flavors which are also good, but I prefer the traditional flavors. The packaging doesn't look exactly like that anymore either, just as FYI.

So I lost 1.2 lbs. this week and made it to my goal weight!

I lost 29 lbs!

I didn't think I would make it to goal this week because of my run in with some homemade cake at our Thanksgiving lunch at work on Monday.

Now begins the hard work of maintenance!

Well, you start by adding in a few more calories per day until you find the right number that keeps you from losing or gaining!

But the most important thing for me will be to continue measuring, reading nutrional info, etc. I'm not changing what I've been doing for the past 6 months.

Thanks!

Well 257/226! Down two more this week. Now comes the holidays and the need to not have a total melt down. Although confidence runs high and for the time being food is seen in a whole new light. It is perceived as something that is needed and not wanted. There is something to be said about "eat to live and not live to eat". First real test today as our at work thanksgiving dinner meal will no doubt be one of total gluttony for all.

Good luck everyone!

The only thing I could think of is the Cam Newton mess. The SEC Rant has been going nuts since it started

Weighed 224.4 this morning. Started my diet on September 24th at 255 pounds, so I've cracked the 30 pound barrier, only 50 more or so to go..

It took me 6 months and a week to lose 29 lbs. Men!
