All the time, now I prefer it to potatoes, more flavor. I add a little Parmesan and top with a sprinkle of Italian breadcrumbs. About 150 cals for a nice serving.

Thanks - I will try the parmesan/breadcrumb idea. I am always looking for new recipes that will keep me on track.

Thanksgiving lunch

Oh, no. I just noticed our Thanksgiving lunch is Thursday. I will do my usual - load up on Turkey, Ham, and greens. Heaping teaspoons of anything really tempting shouldn't do much damage. Finally -- down a pound! I am brown bagging it again to stay on track.

I've been a thread-lurker from day 1 and added 6 lbs just watching. I always consider Halloween to Easter the Fat Season but I'm already at the max. Gotta commit, so I'm in as of yesterday. Even exercised both days and substituted brussels sprouts for pasta last night. Thanks for this thread.

Welcome and good luck!

323/236.6

Jacques-Imos hit me up for a 2.3 pound gain.

My roommate from college is in town and he wants to go out to dinner again.

I need to find a restaurant with fewer cheat options tonight or tomorrow night.

Thanksgiving lunch

Yeah I have to face the music this Friday. What should I do?

Think I will be able to handle manageable portions.

Well, I had salad planned for last night and that helped tremendously. However, I brought home a piece of cake and pigged out on that before I had my salad.

I think I will do better at home for Thanksgiving because we are hosting and I will be busy cleaning the kitchen and well hosting.

Keep your eye on the prize (getting & staying healthy)! Try to check the menu before you go out tonight & decide on something healthy beforehand. Don't even look at the menu once you get there so you won't be tempted to change your mind. Good luck!

Had a great day today. Decided to do some Extreme dieting today. Only took in about 265 calories until dinner. Then ate about 750. Was awesome.

The old saying about if you eat late you will gain weight is not true. Its how much you eat in 24 hours.

Will balance out better tomorrow.

Good luck all!

323/233.7

Wow. First time ever, all the weight I gained from my night at Jacques-Imos, dropped off in one day.

Wow 2, only 13 pounds from my Dec 31 goal of 220.

Don't think I'll make my goal of 230 by Thanksgiving. Damn...

I'd have to have a hellacious week like I did in week 1. And I don't see that happening given all of the plateaus I've been hitting lately.

Keep on keeping on....

Goals are not set objectives that if not reached mean the world will end.

Just keep on keepin on. You are doing great!

i skipped the gym this morning because of the traffic. the movie theater was on my way home so i stopped there for the 9;45 movie.

there were 6 huge people in there, all by themselves, all mouthbreathing and eating nachos and popcorn. it was super depressing, and made me feel really guilty about skipping.

back to the pool tomorrow. i'm going to weigh back in in 3 weeks. i'm hoping to see some movement on the scale or else i might go crazy. seems like the older i get the harder it is.

My scale is finally moving down again! I have begun eating a lighter meal for dinner which is helping - plus the workouts in the am are paying off. I have been diligently getting up every am Mon-Fri to work out b4 work. Sat & Sun are my days off from it. I will soon only have 20 pounds to lose to get to my goal. Yea! Good luck to all during the holidays.

Looks like I won't be making my goal. I fell completely off the wagon about a week ago and gained 3 pounds. On Sunday, i told my husband i was feeling miserable and so I've been back on the wagon and I'm also trying to not consume any bread or rice at all. So we shall see how this goes. Our office Thanksgiving Potluck is tomorrow. Gonna be tough!

If there is one tip that I could give everyone in this thread it would be this. You positively, absolutely, without a doubt HAVE to write down everything you put in your mouth, every day for at least the first 90 days of your "diet" ( I hate using that word).

You then have to total up calorie and fat, or carbs, or points. Whatever your "diet" has you trying to control.

If you don't do this there is no way for you to:

A. know what is going in your body
B. know what needs to not go in your body
C. know how to put the right things in your body

This is a necessary building block of any successful weight loss plan!

Good Luck All!

Daygo's list is great.

I would like to add:take your measurements. I wish I would have. There are weeks when I'm not really losing weight but I'm losing inches.

Best example of that is losing a dress size when I only lost 4 lbs. That was amazing!

I tally up calories, protein, and carbs when I cook something so I can then divide it into appropriate serving sizes.

I make sure each of my three main meals has 30g of protein or more and have a calorie count of 300-400.

I'd say 90% of whatever carbs I take in in a day come from veggies, which are "good carbs". I haven't had potatoes or rice since I started my diet.

I don't write down each piece of food I eat, but I know the calorie count.

Also one AM snack(around 9:30AM) and on PM snack(around 3 PM) each day. These snacks are about 150 calories each.

My food scale helps tremendously with this. I couldn't keep on track without it.
