Pisses me off too

How anyone relates fats to diabetes is beyond me; even when I didn't know anything about health, I knew sugar causes diabetes.

this!!!!!

this and obesity.

yet fats continue to sound 'gross' and it 'feels' like fats..make you fat. we'll never get beyond this.

meanwhile, what happens after you get diabetes? oh, you cant process sugar. sounds like nature is trying to tell you something about your sugar intake here..eat too much and something is going to BREAK.

lay off the fricking sugar.

meanwhile, butter is the clear enemy

She may have a genetic predisposition for diabetes. While she is overweight there are plenty of people who are as overweight as her and do not have diabetes. Butter is not the culprit but as Adkins talks about the combo of the refined carbs and fats in the diet raises blood sugar, triglycerides and cholesterol levels.

right, type ii diabetes (my mom has it) seems to set in with age as well.

so she's at risk for 3 factors right off the bat; overweight, older and her life revolves around rich foods (both fatty and high sugar).

add a genetic component and the odds just continue to go up.

Yep. Mixing carbs with fats is about the worst thing you can do. Either cut out fats or cut out carbs, but mixing them is a surefire way to make your body store more fats, keep you fatter, and more unhealthy. As your insulin spikes from the carbs, your body stores more of the fats you take in. That, in essence, is why low carb diets are so much more effective in weight loss that low fat diets. Your body stores a lot more fat with spiked insulin levels after every meal.

Some villainous rogue brought a dang caramel pecan king cake to the office today..... along with several boxes of donuts.

I really wanted a piece of that king cake but I held my ground and thankfully it was devoured in a very short amount of time so it didn't tempt me for long.

I started the low-carb diet the day after I saw a YouTube video of him giving a lecture and am about 40 pounds lighter today.

I watched the movie Fat Head right after I was finished with the lecture.

Taubes is the man. I wish I could make everyone watch his lectures and Fat Head. Then maybe they'd understand
