Yeah, a time frame was not my goal at first, I just wanted to get to 250 and decide where I want to go from there. But I realized about 10 pounds ago that if I lose an average of 2 pounds a week, by Feb. 26 I could potentially lose 100 lbs in a year, and I made that a goal. It's a lofty goal so if I fall short I won't really care as long as I get pretty clsoe, but I figure if I set the bar high I will push myself that much more.

Yeah, I'll pretty much stay with the same diet but sometimes I'll lose weight faster than other times and after about 5 months or so I am getting used to going without nearly as many carbs as I used to eat/drink.

and his heart grew 3 sizes that day.

you can listen to our dumbasses all day long talking about plateaus and motivation but at the end of the day, you are wiser and more in control having gone through a major one and you can stare fearlessly into the future.

actually, its good it happened early in your process..if you hit the plateau at 250 you might have been much more discouraged but you can see that the weight will continue to drop if you do the right things.

just look at myth. how the hell the guy drops weight off his 165lb frame i'll never know.

The hardest part of losing weight so far has been managing my friends, to be honest. If I could do like Myth and be in hermit mode, I'd probably be way better off. But I just can't. I'm 23, I have something of a social life, and I really enjoy it. So, I overindulge too often. That being said, I'm still down 70 pounds in 9 1/2 months. I've taken the low carb diet and turned into a life style, and although I do tire of eating so much of the same food over and over, I realized that I did that with carbs too.

Ha, I have now motivated my uncle to lose weight, and he wants to do it on Atkins. It's funny how your own success can motivate others. I told him if he needs coaching, I'm more than willing and experienced enough now to coach. He's done south beach before so he's pretty familiar with low carbing. He's really not all that big, maybe needs to drop 30 or 40 pounds. I told him that'll be done in 6 months easily if he sticks to it.

i hope we had something to do with this. :bats a tear out of the corner of his eye:

something we don't talk about enough on here i think. dealing with other people is a huge challenge in and of itself no matter who you are.

friends and family offer 'helpful' advice on how you're doing it wrong, inadvertent (or on purpose) sabotaging your eating plan, and then managing yourself in social situations are 3 very difficult challenges to overcome. they're all hard to deal with..especially trying not to look like a weirdo because you're the only one not stuffing your face with nachos and cupcakes at a football party.

often its the outside factors that completely derail weightloss; you're not only struggling to maintain course, but deal with personal issues and well-meaning friends and family who all have an opinion on how you should be doing this.

then of course there's CT riding your arse too. (love you CT )

anyway, hulk...buddy..you been through alot the last 9 1/2 months and i for one am extremely proud of where you are today.

eta then you go onto the OT..! hulk!
for heaven's sake don't encourage them to come snooping around this thread again.

most definitely. There's been a time or two that venting here single handedly save me from quitting.

quote:

Yep. I dealt with this at first, but I think I've silenced even the toughest of critics with the losses. Results tend to silence them. Weight loss is all that matter.

quote:

inadvertent (or on purpose) sabotaging your eating plan

This is what I deal with the most. They always want to go eat out and just assume that I'll be able to get a steak or something and it'll be okay no matter how much I tell them eating out is just a bad option for me. I deal with it because I can't expect everyone around me to bend to my diet.

Honestly that doesn't bother me, never did. I'm gonna do what I have to do to make it work. When I went to my best friend's family reunion, I bought a rotisserie chicken and some pork skins and coke zero, and I didn't cheat that day. I had to deal with a lot of questions (and other people eating my chicken) but while they were eating potato chips I was eating pork skins.

What I struggle with is drinking. I don't like Michelob Ultra all that much, but it's the only beer I can really have and not go crazy on carbs. I can do like jack and coke zero, but that's expensive as hell unless I go to someone's house with a fifth It's best to avoid drinking altogether, but again, I do have a semblance of a social life and usually once a week or so get presented with a situation where I'd like to be drinking. I can pass up a lot of those or go and not drink, but every now and then I do. And when I do, it ain't pretty haha.

And CT riding my arse helped a lot tbh, and I love CT for it. She's like my weight loss mom Cracking that whip.

eta

I have lots of fun on the OT cad. Sorry for partying I don't encourage anyone to snoop except paige because she's low carbing and trying to lose weight

Question for those doing Atkins..

Can I eat fried chicken wings (or any piece)during induction? no breading just deep fry the wings?

If so, do I have to use a specific type of oil during induction?

Can a no carb hot sauce be added (franks, texas pete)?

I am planning on making thse at home so I know it is just chicken and oil..

TIA

As long as there is no flour and no carb sauce I don't see how chicken wings would be an induction problem.

If they're not breaded, they're fine. Just watch the sauce because some have sugar and stuff. Most hot sauces have 1-2 carbs/serving, so a batch of 10 wings could have 5-10g carbs.

eta

And even if it says no carb, they're allowed to put 0 carbs on the label if they have <.6g carbs/serving, so most likely each one has .4 or so and they say 0. it sounds negligible but when you have 10 wings or so, it adds up.

Yeah the no carbs is probably a lie. To be safe assume there is one carb per serving.

As Hulk said below a certain amount they are allowed to say carb free even though 10 servings could be 6 carbs.

Holding steady this morning. Had a super stressful day yesterday. My dad might have had a stroke and my sister is about to lose her job.

My dad is back normal but still in the hospital so he should be somewhat ok other than the fact this is his second stroke in 4 years.

I'm trying to avoid some stress eating. Evil devil has been telling me to pile dive into a pizza but so far the rational part of my brain has won out.

I'm not really worried about it. I'm still down 10 since I started again recently.

I'll just have to get those pounds back off again and stay focused
