Flubbed a job interview today and my brain is screaming for some comfort through Twix Ice Cream.

So far I have been able to beat back the evil cookie monster side of my brain. so far.

Not sure I've ever been the exact same weight for 3 days in a row before. I tried weighing my leg and then myself and came up with the same thing. Showed a difference in weight after I ate breakfast too. So I guess I just woke up exactly the same

Some scales, including mine, store your previous weight. I have it set not to store mine but I wanted to make sure it didn't store it by mistake, so I weighed a leg and then weighed myself. Myth and CAD know about that all too well.

Power

For the first several months of my diet, I noticed I only lost weight in 2 pound increments. After looking online, I found that some scales won't change the reading until you lose a certain amount.

They do this to give the fake impression your scale is 100% accurate. Meaning If you weighed yourself 10 times in a row, every measurement would be the same because the first weight it stored and does not change until you lose over a pound.

Once I found this out, I started doing the leg weight dealio.

BOOOOOOOM!

Day 1 of Atkins was huge.

1200 calories and even better about 1300 mgs of sodium. The huge drop in sodium caused a massive flush out of water.

323/168.7/164.5

About a 3.5 pound drop in one day. All water of course and if I went back on carbs I would regain it all the next day.

Weird

My scale measures in increments of .2 lbs as far as I know so this isn't a problem.

my scale measures in .10 but as I said they try to fool people to think the scale is super accurate by storing your weight in memory and only changing it when there has been a loss over 1 pound.

It has nothing to do with the increments used by the scale. It has simply been coded to store the last weight and only show a change if you lose more than a pound to fake accuracy.

It's the toughest day I have for discipline. I love boudin quite a bit and can't stay away from it. Best thing I can do is just not get seconds on the plate of the day. Actually the day games are better for not sitting around drinking beer all day.

hmm

Well I haven't noticed it giving me repeat readings

I'm not going to employ this technique unless I start seeing something fishy in my data

Not all scales do that.

When I became suspicious I looked my scale up online and a ton of people were complaining about this crap.

Not like it is hard to take 20 extra second to weigh my leg, then get on the scale.

I've heard some good things about almonds but I'm not a big fan. Has anyone tried smoked almonds before? Are they much different in taste?

I don't like them. I get either plain almonds or the cocoa almonds from Emerald. There's no sugar, just cocoa.

Step away from the flavored almonds. They are like crack. I tried the wasabi flavor (yum) but I couldn't control my portions.

Plain almonds are okay.

On a diet, snacks really shouldn't taste great because then you are tempted to eat more than the serving size so if you can just tolerate almonds, they might be a good snack choice.

Just stay away from the flavored ones cause they are AWESOME.

Weight Maintenance
It may be contrary to our thinking that a handful of almonds that gets about 125 of its 160 calories from fat could be good for controlling weight. But research suggests almonds may help you lose weight. The reason could be as simple as the fact that your body needs fat to function properly, which is why low-fat diets can lead to cravings for high-fat foods and result in high-calorie binges. Also, because fat satiates hunger, low-fat diets often leave you feeling hungry so that you may actually consume more calories, which your body stores as fat.

Researchers believe that almonds provide the right balance of protein, fat and fiber to make you feel full and satisfied, reducing your desire to eat more. In a Purdue University study, participants who ate a daily 344-calorie serving of almonds did not gain weight. Apparently, they naturally compensated for the almond calories by reducing their intake of other foods throughout the day.

There’s a great deal more research being done on the fascinating connection between almonds and weight management, but it seems fair to say that if you replace the amount of saturated fats you eat with the monounsaturated fat found in almonds, you won’t gain weight and the change may help you lose it.

You can read more about the connection between almonds and weight management, including specific study citations, in the Nutrition Benefits section at www.AlmondsAreIn.com. View additional references on almonds as a satisfying snack by clicking here.
