Some guy was ripping fad diets like Atkins so I told him my 150 pound loss begged to differ with his opinion.

Then I gave him that link you gave us with the study done by the Stanford vegan who pretty much proved Atkins was better than all other diets.

Heck, that study was flawed because he never even made his subjects go into induction.

I hate this phrase so much. People act like Atkins is a fad diet. It's no more a fad diet than Weight Watchers. It's been around for a long, long time. It's only been recently have people really picked up on it, though.

Yeah, it is just a stricter version of Sugar Busters which has been around 40 years.

I've gotten lazy with it. Plus my friends and I have been doing the LSU lakes rather than couch to 5k, so in a short and sweet answer: not really. But when I do workouts by myself in my complex I still do c25k

Full steam ahead captain!

what up PDFD peeps?

quick question: i have cereal for breakfast, fruit for a morning snack, a sandwich and some sort of crackers for lunch, and usually about 1000cal for supper. I'm looking for an afternoon snack that will hold me over til supper. I had been eating a fruit cup but i'm still starved when i get home and want to eat the entire pantry. Any suggestions?

Carbs make you crave more carbs. This isn't a rant to force you into a new lifestyle but it is a simple fact.

When I cheat and eat carbs even if I stuff my face to the point of exploding, I'm still hungry. That is what carbs do to your body. They hit you over the head with a hammer and clamor for MORE CARBS.

If you want to mix it up and still be somewhat healthy you can go with trail mix or some nuts. Those might be a bit heartier than a fruit cup but it is also harder to portion control.

i've dropped 50+ adn kept it off for almost two years now on the eat less move around more (calorie counting only) diet + i LOVE Louisiana food too much to cut carbs (did it once and lost 40# and gained more back).

As I said, I wasn't trying to force a change away from carbs. You were asking for a snack that would tide you over and the problem is that carbs don't really tide you over. They stimulate hunger.

Nuts or trail mix would be good but you HAVE to make separate portions. If you keep the can or pack near you, you will eat the whole darn thing.

naah

I keep the can around at my desk and I only eat 1 serving. At first it takes willpower, after a while it's nothing.

And Myth's right. Eat something a little heartier. Some nuts, maybe some cheese. Something a little fatty to hold you over. Carbs don't hold you over like fats do; but obviously you're on a diet where you want to avoid fats, so be careful. But nuts and cheese should do you justice.

These are some of my go to snacks (just depends on how many calories you're willing to consume):

popcorn (I use 100 calorie kettle corn packs)

pepperjack cheese stick (sometimes I wrap it in 1/2 a low cal tortilla or a couple of slices of turkey and microwave it)

peanut butter on 45 calorie per slice bread (this keeps me full for hours)

yogurt parfait

pistachios

almonds

eta: Drink lots of water too!
