I was recently asked to write, rather remarkably, a paper for a medical journal on “Fad diets in diabetes” -- I have no idea what the editors had in mind (trash the area of research I am working on?) Anyway, I think I adequately handled that issue and made the case that the low fat diet is the fad.
The paper is at: LINK

Hope this makes you feel better and thanks for the plug for my blog LINK

Normally I'd haze someone for only having 1 post and plugging their product.. but that is an interesting read. And it favors my side

compare how you feel after eating a handful of peanuts (or peanut butter) with how you feel after eating a handful of cheetoes. if you are like me you'll want to rape the bag of cheetoes then go looking for ho-hos or a candy bar when you're done.

i kinda 'lose' my appetite after eating nuts or even sunflower seeds.

Stanford professor.

LINK

He wouldn't come right out and say Atkins won, but people did lose more weight and they won EVERY blood work number.

Oh and he fudged it up because he didn't make them go into induction which is the MAIN weight loss phase of Atkins.

If they had gone into induction they would have crushed the other diets.

Another good day plus a bike ride has me about 4 pounds from my low.

But I think the dip down will end tomorrow. I've dropped 4 pounds in two days getting that excess water back out, so I think I will stay the same or dip slightly depending on whether I stop typing and get on my bike before it gets dark.

Thanks Myth - I had a large argument on the OT with several posters, and wanted to give them that link.

Bringing diet info to the OT will only lead to nasty name calling and nonsense. Stay away from there.

Actually it wasn't bad. Busey and I had a good discussion. LL was trying to say Atkins was unhealthy and blahblah, so I asked her why is it unhealthy, and said something like "or are you going to give me the same rhetoric every other would-be nutritionist does?" and she got all upset and left the thread

We both have exactly 5.2 lbs to go to hit x00. good luck.

I leave for Vegas on Sunday. I switched back to Atkins yesterday, figuring it will be easier to stay on than WW while in Vegas.

Oh man going back to atkins,
I'm doing the opposite. Going to try carbs again with much lower sodium and lower portions.

Oatmeal
Sandwich with salad
Small portion red beans and rice with sausage
Snack - Wasabi peas

Only problem is that is not nearly enough calories. If I gain weight on that menu something is wrong.

you may gain water weight back. Atkins is a diuretic, remember?

I think my massive water spike last time was sodium and atkins related. I've kicked my sodium up from 1200 to 2400 a day so maybe I won't spike quite as much plus I am essentially eating diet level of calories so I should lose some fat while putting on water weight.

we shall see.

Back to 167.5 at the moment.

I also wasn't riding my bike much when I went into maintenance and I am back to 3 to 4 rides a week which will help me sweat some water out.

We shall see. If it doesn't work I'll changes things up again.
