I am no doctor and I also did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express, but I mentioned on another site that I have horrific sleep problems and several people suggested melatonin.

So I grabbed the 5mg bottle at Wal-Mart and boy has that crap helped my sleep. I don't know if it is placebo or real, but for 2 weeks I have been falling asleep MUCH faster.

Once again, I know nothing about Melatonin. I googled it a bit and didn't see any horror stories or warnings so you might want to look it up and check it out.

I've tried melatonin in the past. I tend to oversleep and feel REALLY groggy when I take it :(

I guess it depends on the problem. For me I could lay in that damn bed for 4 or 5 hours before falling asleep so a little grogginess is worth it.

Lol, give me a few months to get about 40 pounds off and I'm sure I will be happy to model my bikini to anyone that will look!

Glad to see everyone chiming in with tips, I have had a relatively smooth sail with none of life's little bumps to throw me off, and no one to account for to have to worry about but myself...not sure I could do this is I were married/in a long term relationship or had kids. For me to make it work, I am having to be very selfish!

yup. Much easier if you are in total control of the fridge and pantry.

Not sure how these married folk are ever able to lose weight.

Hulk, try Excedrin PM about 10:00 pm you'll be sleeping before your usual time. Also don't be afraid to shed a tear when you miss your mom. It actually helps relieve the some of the grief.

On the other hand, I do not recommend throwing things, kicking pets or tv's, or consumming mass quantities of carbs.

Why don't you order a bike from Walmart using the Myth plan. That'll get your mind off things.

I know how to handle myself, tears flow. I never have been one to comfort myself with food, hitting things or anything like that. My mom always said I was a gentle giant I have a big heart and I wear it on my sleeve.

I must respond to this. I used that excuse for quite a while. Either you are ready to lose the weight or you are not. If you are, it doesn't matter what is in the pantry or what your spouse is eating. My husband eats ice cream, pasta, biscuits, cheesecake, etc. in front of me. Those are the things that got me into this predicament.

Last night we went to Copeland's. He ordered my favorite meal with pasta and rich sauce and fried stuff. I ordered the steak chop salad. Oh my goodness, it was amazing!!! I had it with blue cheese dressing. Afterwards, I felt great and was completely satisfied. He was miserable.

I got home too late today to weigh, but I bet I hit 20 lbs today.

That's great CT! Last night I was feeling bummed so my friend took me out to eat at Ryan's (I know, cheap but it was just to get out of my apartment). She ate like 6 plates of all sorts of carbs and a huge plate of steak (and she's not very fat! It's hilarious to watch a girl put away that amount of food ) I had a baked chicken breast, pork steak, green beans and collard greens and went back for 1 steak. The steak had a marinade in it, could taste it so IDK how I did on my carbs but I doubt it was that bad.

Fine job, Hulk.

Either you are committed or you are not. If I cheat, I'm screwed. I haven't learned to get back on the horse right away. Once those carbs go in, I'm right back into my fullblown carb addiction.

I didn't have a carb addiction. I didn't go through induction flu or have any cravings. The only time I crave carbs is when I'm watching people eating stuff like spaghetti or rolls or something.

Went out with my wife and 3 couple friends to the Comedy Club last night for my birthday. The Comedy Club here in Bham has crazy good nachos, and of course, that's what several others ordered.

It was awesome because it wasn't even a temtation. The booze they were drinking, on the other hand, was a bit of a temptation. They of course were teasing me with the drinks the way any friends will.

I enjoyed my unsweetened tea instead, and when the checks came, I got the last laugh.

CT, I agree with you. My wife and child are not partaking in my food style change. We share the same proteins and veggie sides but they're not about to give up starches, bread and dessert. This is for me to do not them.

It reminds me of quitting smoking 20 years ago. Once the last one was out, it was up to me to make sure that it was my last one.

Hulk, now I understand some of your scale frustration. Unless that was your only meal of the day, you might want to reconsider your strategy.

I would agree. That was probably way more than 1500 calories alone and all of that food was salted to death so no wonder you gained. I bet there was 3000 to 5000 mgs of sodium in that meal. That will definitely make the scale punish you.

I never have bought into the eat more aspect of Atkins. It may be real but I can't get beyond the old school calorie restriction which is why I am always near 1200 unless it is a special event.

12 mile ride nearly killed me. Literally. First the wind was a 3.5 out of 5 heart attacks on the wind scale and second I fixed my flat but somehow my front and rear brakes no longer work. It was interesting coming down the levee.

Agreed. I try to keep mine low. I don't have to eat a lot of protein to stave off hunger. However, I do not actually add up calories. Moderation is the key for me.

So are you going to stop farting around and beat CAD to 185 or what?

Hell, you're going to kill yourself on that bike before you make 185.

Cad is all muscle so he is having a tough time getting to 185. I'm still like chet from Weird Science.

Not sure why the damn weight has been stalling on me.

It's definitely not easy when you have a wife and kids, let alone a pregnant wife and 3 year old little boy that wants pizza and chicken nuggets for every meal. The good news is I do the cooking in the house so we eat what I want. It's the times I don't feel like cooking that I get in trouble. Thank goodness for NEWK'S grilled chicken Caesar salad. It's delicious, filling, and not toommany calories if you only use half the dressing.

I know that was a lot of food, but I don't eat nearly that much at all. I splurged. Normal daily calorie consumption is 1200-1500.

In other news, I cooked this for dinner. I have enough for lunch and dinner tomorrow as well and it was freaking DELICIOUS!

I left out the Xantham gum and ginger.
Next time I cook it'll be this pot roast
