Bham

Enjoy those big drop weeks when they happen.

Cad

I'm a bit stuck myself. With the bike riding, I'm putting on muscles I haven't used in 10 years or more. So the race for 185 is not over. You have plenty of time to catch me.

DUDE...SWEET!!!!!

this is a good thing..you're under 200 so muscles will actually start to show up when you work them out..so forget the weight and focus on the toning.

also you've probably noticed how amazingly elastic our skin is..i cant believe how i dont have a bunch of saggy dead skin now that i'm 57 lighter than last year around this time.

you can literally start working out now and start to see all kinds of deinitino in your arms, legs..but dont worry about abs for now..depending on your height..you'll have to lose another 20+ pounds or so at least before any stomach exercises will help.

the biggest problem most people have is they think they can work hard enough (1000 situps a day or something ridiculous) and the abs will appear.

nope. not as long as there is a sheath of fat over them. WE ALL HAVE ABS NOW!! we just cant see 'em.

men's health had a story where a guy finally lost enough weight to have abs..and then he did like 3 weeks worth of ab exercises and boom..6 pack.

so forget crunches. focus on building up those POWERPLANTS in your legs..the quads..that will do more for you to 'assist' in burning calories than any other muscle in your body. its your BIG GUNS

I know you weren't saying otherwise, but ab exercises are still beneficial even if you can't see the definition. Most of us fatties have some kind of back pains. Building those ab muscles is one of the best things you can do for that.

Anyone else on a low sodium diet? If so do you have a funny metallic taste in your mouth after ingesting something with salt in it? Kinda taste like someone sprayed your mouth and lips with Saline nose spray.

Not me. I'm around 1500 mgs a day and I never have a weird aftertaste when eating something that is high sodium.

yes building core strength is always a good thing. personally i do tons of pushups because these show up IMMEDIATELY. i've gotten a routine down where i do 30 pushups with my feet elevated on the third stair (these are service stairs so no one interrupts me) and i try to do this routine 3x a day. (try anyway)

my arms look amazing and i dont have to commit to an actual 'visit' to the gym and all the rigamarol of changing clothes, getting a shower, etc. i can do this and be back at my desk inside of 10 minutes. i try to do this whenever i get up to use the bathroom.

the point being..even pushups work your abs..just holding your body straight while doing them works out muscles you dont even realize. i'm no hershel walker, but i get 60 or 90 of these in every day and the pay off is great.

eta i should point out i started out doing 10 pushups..and slowly built up. so dont think u gotta start with 30..its all about slowly building up what you are able to tolerate. when i first started..by the 10th pushup i was on the floor exhausted. it was embarrassing. i mean by pushup #9 i was completely spent.

You have owed me a hot dog for FOREVER. Apparently you ate it yourself, thus, you cannot get below the 200 mark.

ETA: After the 4 day New Orleans thing, I still lost 1/2 lb.

Not a good week for me with the Casa Garcia fest and tomorrow I am headed out to dinner with friends.

Thought I was going to smoke Cad to 185, but the race could come down to overtime.

Check this out. Weighed three times today. Did not eat a thing because I was fasting for blood work.

Scale at Dr office: 217
Scale at health club: 214
Scale at home: 207

I will agree with the home scale since this is the one I started with. :-)

I imagine you wear more clothes and even shoes at the doctor so that one will always be 4 to 5 pounds more than a home weigh-in.
