What do they do for the test?

Paperwork (medical history and consent waivers)
Height/Weight/tape measure of waist and hips
Grip Strength
Blood Pressure
Draw Blood
Blood pressure
Dexa scans. About 4 different positions. Each positions take 2-3 minutes of scanning by the machine.

They give you the imaging results right there and a $25 walmart gift card.

Make sure you're taking in enough sodium. Especially if you're slamming 3L of water a day.

Magnesium too. Chicken broth or beef broth is good during those first few days.

Bus can chime in on other induction tips I've forgotten. If you prep right, it isn't painful.

Damn I was going to fast before I go to the test. But I'll definitely pass out if they take blood and I don't eat beforehand.

How much blood we talking here?

Not much.

You can fast. Probably better for more accurate results anyway.

They take 2 viles. I didn't know they took blood and I didn't eat, I was fine.

The lady that takes it is dressed in scrubs but clearly isn't a nurse. She said my 114/66 blood pressure was "low" and asked me if I felt alright. Wtf. No problem drawing blood tho

no need to fast. Eat something. This is blood drawn for their research, not a lipid panel. Your purpose of visit is the DEXA Scan.

Thank you! It's been ok so far this time, thankfully. I need to remember the salt thing. It makes a huge difference.

Yeah, it does.
I tried three times to start this diet. Got sick and felt like crap each time.

The third time I just asked bus wtf I was doing wrong and he mentioned the broth trick. I felt better in like an hour or two.

You can avoid it all together if you have all the right stuff on hand. It doesn't have to be miserable.

Busbeepbeep,

Awesome numbers. How much alcohol do you drink per week? I'm always playing with alcohol and trig numbers.

Well my appointment is for 10 and i usually fast until 12.

Sounds soft, but I tend to pass out fairly easy. It's embarrassing so I might have to eat breakfast that day instead of IF.

Yeah you can fast if you want, just saying no requirement to do so.

My appointment was at 10am, and I worked out beforehand so the only thing I had to break my fast was intraworkout bcaa drink and I didn't eat til crushing Blue Oak after done the test. They don't take enough blood to cause concern. Just a little vial.

Blue Oak sounds like a good plan for after.

I walked in at 10:05 and left at 11:40, but apparently there was a guy in front of me that they spent a long time scanning because "couldn't find his bones." The docs/students/residents whatever they got working there certainly don't call English their first language.

Just got from under a squat rack.

Not pretty. I'm gonna be hungry until about 1.

Real hungry.
