Cheated one big meal this weekend. Went to Charlies Steakhouse with my parents, but I hit the gym twice and cut back Friday and Sunday in preparation, so I didn't gain anything back.

somehow I was at 211 yesterday. Guessing food baby, but I don't know. I haven't cheated or over-eaten or anything like that. I'm assuming I'll be back in the 207's by Wednesday.

In the past two weeks I've lost 7 pounds, I'd say a pretty good start to this year

This USDA food composition database is amazing. I wish I would have known about this years ago.

yea the usda website is officially what something is and is what should be used.

So i have been doing a bunch of reading on the pre-arnold muscle beach era specifically the mid 40s to through the 60s. In the articles I am reading they discuss their diets and almost all of them followed something along the lines of the following daily

2-3 dozen whole fresh eggs

Minimum of 1 quart of fresh raw heavy cream with 2 to 3 cups of whey protein

2 lbs ground sirloin(almost all beef was grass fed in this era)

They would do this for 8-14 weeks at a time and noted in the article that they always built muscle and noticed a much leaner waste while on this. They also said the only place they would go out to eat was near the beach where they would all get 1-2 lbs of raw beef and crack upto a dozen eggs and then eat as beef tar tar. Most were eating 8-9000 cals a day and still losing belly fat.

Interesting read and I thought since many of yall are on Keto yall would enjoy their diet.

Also a bunch of them would cycle the above diet with a 4-6 week "vegetarian" phase where they ate tons of veggies and fruits along with 3 dozen eggs and upto a gallon of raw cream a day as it was their believe that this restored the body to a more alkaline state from the acidic state the muscle building diet put them in. They would do this all year cycling between the two except around contest time.

Love reading about their thoughts on raw food too. Many believed in eat food as raw as possible as thats how god intended. Some even believed that boiling eggs at a high temp or shocking them with cold water ruined the nutritional value.

However they did it there is no denying how good their physiques looked. Pretty cool how they used a keto diet before they even knew what it was.

jesus christ that's a lot of food.

And yeah, Arnolda era and earlier bodybuilders looked much better than the monsters on stage nowadays. The current day men's physique competitors look more like Arnold than the Olympian competitors. The modern Olympia guys shovel back TONS of carbs

I feel much better this afternoon than I did even this morning. Body must have finally switched over to body fat for energy because I am less hungry and blood sugar feels normalized again. I woke up at 6:30am and by 7:30 I had cold sweats, was shaky, and felt like death.

My energy levels are still shitty during training. I am fatiguing way to quickly - my body must not fully be keto-adapted yet.

I'm thinking that the leangains 16/8 with mid day training doesn't bode well with jiu jitsu, where I am training 45 minutes at max effort. My explosiveness and endurance are shite.

Going to bump my first meal back to 11am and see how that feels.

I read a couple of yrs back about their diets, they sure knew how to shed fat...
and eat enormously.

After that major carb feed, would you say your strength increased significantly?

I've been on planes and airports for roughly 36 hrs straight.

Honestly not really. One refeed is not enough to do that. The refeed is more about resetting leptin and all the other hormones less than a thousand calories a day screws up. I just try to take advantage of it if I am going to have to do it anyways.

Honestly though I was still sore from the night before so I dunno how much It really increased.

Yeah man 3 days of chicken and the steak was amazing. Can only imagine after weeks of this.

Hoping this helps me recover from the workout. It'd probably be smart to schedule these free meals around workouts.

I was 265 thus morning. Really, really hoping to see 263 tomorrow. That'd be back to 100 pounds lost since my heaviest. Always was a big milestone that I was proud of whenever I was below it.
