Never buying from there again. Saw a fluorescent light in the display case that had the housing open. It was nasty as shite and had pooled water from condensation dripping on the meat and no one either noticed or cared. Left that moment and I’ve never gone back.

Damn near all “fresh” fish has been flash frozen at sea. Doesn’t impact quality in the slightest.

This thread reminds me of poster JasonL79 (from the late-and-lamented Off the Hook seafood shop). Haven't seen him post on the F&D board in a while.

I do too. Lately haven’t even been marinating or putting any kind of glaze on my salmon. I just pan sear and dip each bite in lime ponzu.

Is this a one off thing or do they do this regularly?

Yeah? I’ll pick some up to try next time. On my nasty once frozen fish I forgot most f&d’ers get their yellowfin strait off the boat at the marina

Watch the America’s Test Kitchen episode on cooking salmon. Great tip about putting the olive oil into a cold pan and placing the salmon in with the olive oil, then turning the flame up to cook the filet.

I’ve made salmon this way ever since.

I can beat it. I can get 4 chunks of tuna for $12.

Full disclosure: I have 2 kids that work at Fresh Market and I get a 20 percent discount...

Fresh Market has dinner deals for 4 that are easy to prepare. 20 bucks without the discount. Good stuff, if you're in a hurry.

My wife and I do this two or three times per month and easily get 2 meals out of it and sometimes more.
