Thinking about trying this place out for a friend's birthday dinner, but I seem to recall some bad reviews a few months ago. Has the food improved?

I had lunch Saturday at the one in Monroe. Got the Turkey and avacado club. It was decent, which is what I expected. The scenery was top notch also, which is what I expected.

ETA- I realize that really has nothing to do with your question. I've never been to the Portico on Coursey. But from what I've seen on here it is similar to the one in Monroe. It's a bar that serves food. If you want to go have a few drinks and eat some above average bar food then it will fit the bill. If you're looking to be blown away by uber fresh, cutting edge cuisine then look elsewhere. It's a see and be seen place.

Its nice for what it is. I went there about 2 weeks ago and sat at the bar for a few apps and beers and it was perfect for what I wanted. The apps were good, the beer was cold.

decent patio

With a decent view of CVS

Seriously though, the patio is pretty nice in weather like this.

Portobello's is close by, and it would be a gigantic step up from Portico's food.

Gotcha, sort of a place to grab a whiskey drink and a plate of fries.

The fried fish is very good, and the asparagus is the best I've ever had.

It's in an atrocious location in BR. Coursey is hideous.

To be fair, people are saying this about the new Galatoire's patio.. and all I can think is .. is there really a road that would be great to look at in BR? Not really.

Patios that don't overlook roads (like Chelseas) are always empty when I eat there. Obviously someone is enjoying eating by the road

Burger is very good. Double patties and seasoned very well. One of the better burgers in BR
