I just bought four from them a week or two ago at 97 cents. Damn don't have any more room in my freezer.

Me too, and I used 3 of them to make sausage, so I have room in my freezer for just one of those 2 roast cryovac packages to save for later.
Great price on the Butts and I also bought 30 lbs. of chicken leg quarters a few weeks ago for $.35 a lb.
The little piece of back that is on the thigh was used for making a nice chicken stock and I wound up with 2 gallons of that by the time it was done.

this is a pretty regular sale for them, so if you miss it, it will be back soon.
Are they safe to freeze directly in the packaging?

I've not seen the price as low as they are planning for this weekend. They are on sale every other month or so at $.97- $.99 a lb. and always in the 2 pack.
I never freeze them in the 2 pack and just separate them and wrap them in Saran wrap and then freezer paper like any other large cuts meat I freeze.
ETA: But if you want to freeze both of them in their original packaging, that would work.

Bringing this back up as a reminder for anyone interested in it.

If ya bring a couple twin packs to the back they will butcher them any way ya like for free. I usually get one pack sliced into steaks and one pack cut into small strips. The strips are great on the pit as is. easy to cut up for jambalaya meat. They also drop right into my grinder for sausage. While I do that the wife is pushing 2 packs in her buggy uncut.

I picked up a 2 pack earlier today and also got their turkey breast for $.99 a lb. and they also had Nathan's Hot Dogs in the 14 oz. packs at 2 for $5 that usually sell for more than that for a single pack.
If into corn, they have 6 ears of the bi-color corn for $2, which is a great deal.

My local Kroger had them on sale for 0.88/lb about a month ago. Bought six of them.

I don’t buy pork from Rouses as I’ve bought 3 bad pork butts from them. I just kept thinking surely this won’t happen again.
But cooking them a bit higher, my mother always did and wouldn’t go as far as pulled. She would slice it and I like to cook it that way from time to time and just slice it thin for a good sandwich.

I have not had an issue at rouses but usually goto Sams or Costco. It’s going to be sliced too. Some people like the NC sliced BBQ which we are doing with the sauce and slaw. I like it pulled.

Yeh... I do not purchase meat from them at all. Ever since they went all Winn Dixie and are opening up one every 5 miles they have had shite from quality control. They carry crap meat and their “butchers” are no where near what they need to be in terms of knowledge.
It would be one thing if it would be from just one location, but it’s been across the board. The two locations that were Leblancs in Gonzales and Zachary are particularly terrible. I buy meat from Calandros (steaks, Italian sausage mostly) and Alexander’s for a little bit of everything. Costco is good as well....

Pork butt is very fresh, deep dark red, nice fat cap.
Put the other half in the freezer

Albertsons has them for $.88 right now if you don’t have a Rouses nearby
