I don't much care for Deanies.

The new II Tony's location is much better than the old one.
Mondo is pretty good.

Not saying I love all these places but they are there.

Eta: if you do go to r&o's do not get the oyster soup. It's the nasty.

Mr. Ed's is solid standard creole stuff. Its a nice place with a (much) older crowd, but the food is solid.

Is it solid?

I think its falls solidly into the "solid" category, yes. Stays within is capabilities, does not stray far from tradition and tends to do a good job of it. At least that's been my experience over the years.

I grew up in the area and live in Lakeview now.

There isn't anything in Bucktown besides the seafood places and Mr Ed's.

Lakeview has a good variety now.

Mondo
Steak Knife
Lakeview Harbor
Reginelli's
Koz's
El Gato Negro
Velvet Cactus
II Tony's
Zachary's (yuck)
Wasabi
Salsas Por El Lago (Super cheap mexican, nice family)
