every now and then, I'll have a slice of cake that can go toe to toe with a good pie, but only rarely. Hot pie is the GOAT and the likely heir to the thrown of the Seven Kingdoms.

Pie. Absolutely.

It doesn't matter if it's a fruit pie (Apple Pie), pecan pie, chocolate cream pie, key lime pie, whatever.

The texture of cake sucks compared to texture of pies. Cakes are just bready dough topped with icing to make it go down.

I think Alton Brown argued it’s a custard baked into a pie.

I vote pie due to the better variety of textures and flavors. Though, cake can be enticing when it’s more than just a flavored flour dough with heavy sugar icing. I make a rosemary and cornmeal cake that’s dusted with powdered sugar. It’s excellent.

I don’t know. To me it is really pie more than cake, but as long as it taste like my favorite one they can call it whatever.
