Picking crawfish up at 10am, boil not until 5pm

Hello, first time poster. Love this forum.
I am having a crawfish boil tomorrow and the supplier is forcing me to pick up the crawfish at 10 AM But the boil doesn't start until 5 PM.
What is the recommendation to keep the crawfish cool and alive until I start?
Can I just empty the sack into a large ice chest and fill it with water?
Thank you.

Just keep them in sack in a shaded area and throw some ice on top them or spray them with water hose every once in a while and they'll be fine.

Place crawfish in ice chest. Keep them in the sack. Cover with ice. Pull drain plug. Place at an angle so water can drain.

Just put the sack in the ice chest, cover with ice and leave the drain open.

Do not take them out of the sacks. They will kill each other if you leave them loose in a confined area for a long time.
Keep them in the sacks, in ice chests out of the sunlight with the lid cracked (they need oxygen to breathe), drain valve open, and a bag of ice on top of the sack(s). I usually put a big rock under the end opposite of the drain, so that any pooled water drains out.
If you do that, they will keep fine. I've kept them like that for 2 full days and they were still alive and good to boil.

I just put mine in a big tub full of water in the shade

That’s fine for a short time. Crawfish can breathe underwater, but they can also drown. That many crawfish in a tub will deoxygenate the water fast. You can leave the water running though and they will be fine.
It’s just not as messy to cover them and put a bag of ice on them with a drain open. That way you don’t have water everywhere.

Don't let the ants get to them.
Either in the ice chest with plug pulled, ice on top or hang the sack in the shade and drape a wet towel around them.

I've never had issues, but my tub is also one of those cleaning tubs and I cycle water through them a few times.

I put an old towel over the sack and hose down the towel/sack every once in awhile. I usually try to keep them in the shade.

Either of the first two responses are correct.
