OK, I'm not that old and went to the one in Pensacola, Fl about a week ago. I had the Cod with hush puppies and tarter sauce. A side of corn, a dinner roll and Sweet Tea. Damn that sounds good now.

I grew up eating the chopped beef, Mac and cheese, broccoli rice and the black eye peas at Westmoreland and when we wanted the newer one we went to Bon Marche' Mall. My father was a big patron of the original on Third Street.
The tray conveyor mesmerized me. I always wanted to ride it.
If you read any David Sadaris he has a great story of washing dishes at Piccadilly in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The worst thing Piccadilly ever did was buy Ralph and Kacoos for $38 million in the late 80's. The Olindes could not have gotten more money with a gun and a mask.
Truth right here.

When i was at elem school at St Gerard in NBR, we used to go to the one in Delmont after school and we always sat right by the belt..i always used to stick my head in to see whats going on.
Delmont re modeled and took out the belt....i wonder if the one on govt street still has it?

It tastes like sweet potatoes instead of carrots. I actually found its recipe on Pinterest so I'll bake one soon!

Our family used to hit the clearview location almost weekly growing up. I loved it. Now I go about once a year with my wife's grandpa (his favorite place). Very nostalgic and my wife suggested we go support them soon.

I used to know the president of the company years ago - even he could not get the recipe. They had one person make it every day - and the recipe was in her head!
not true at all .. there's an index card box in every kitchen with every recipe at piccadilly .. always has been .. you could jot it down in about a minute if you worked in the kitchen ..

One thing I never understood was what they called gumbo which was at the beginning of the line. It was a soup (no roux) with big hunks of fish, carrots and other crap. How this becomes a gumbo was always a mystery to me?
their gumbo is a pot luck of the previous night's leftovers .. haddock, catfish, veggies .. even hamburger patties ..

I ate at the Govt. Street location last week. The old lady playing the guitar was a nice touch.

There is no Picadilly heiress. It's owned by an investment firm out of California.
The Hamilton family started and owned it but sold it many years ago. I grew up with those girls and Suzanne, who was a year younger died several years ago. If your friend is married to one of the surviving girls they cashed out years ago.
i was about to say this .. what kind of bullshite is this dude peddling ?

after katrina i was visting my GF at the time who was with her family staying at a friends house in BR.. big nice house, well anyway, they invite me to dinner, so i accept and ask where we are going, they said Piccadilly, i made a face, a "that place blows" face. my gf nudged me and gave me a dirty look. their host looked at me and said "I own all the Piccadillies in south Louisiana"
My Gf and her family moved out the next day.
these stories are either bullshite, or someone was bullshitting the hell out of you that day ..

There's only one here in Lake Charles. The other one we had since I was a kid closed last year.
Don't take it away! Their roast beef and mac and cheese are great! Love their brown gravy too. It hasn't changed since I was a little kid.

As a kid, I was always fascinated by it.

Bon Marche and Essen were our 2 spots when growing up. The Essen location used to have one of the best homemade chicken fried steak in town, but they switched to a frozen patty several years ago and it's just not the same.
On occasion, wife and I take the kids on Thursday (I believe) to the Gonzales location for Kid's Night. $.99 for kid's meal is not a bad deal. Key to getting a good meal is to get there right at 5:30'ish so that the food is fresh and hot.

I used to go to the one close to Sherwood Forest (whatever one that was) everytime I would stay with my grandparents in Baton Rouge. Those nights were always folowed by an evening of Putt Putt. Good times back in the 80's.

i always liked piccadilly as a kid .. i still get take out from the to go spot on sherwood forest .. i don't see what so bad about it outside of the fact that it doesn't satisfy the pseudo five star taste of the F&D board pretentiousites ..

The first time I ever went to a Piccadilly was the one in Alexandria. I was a kid and we were on the way to somewhere in north Louisiana. It was also the first time I ever had cheesecake. Good times.
