Yeah. I get the one with pork and ask for extra toppings (pickeled carrots, cilantro, jalapenos).
That is a rip off. Good banhi mi should be $3-$4 at most.

It's like a footlong sandwich. Ingredients are always fresh and sandwich is always good. Hardly a rip-off

No different than going to one of the numerous sandwich places and paying $8 for a sandwich.

I just went to Tasty Casian after my three day Special K weight drop. Got a nice bowl of pho with beef, meatballs and tendons. Very nice.

Nice people run this place. I highly endorse it.

Try the combination pho especially if they have thin sliced rare beef, tripe, tendon, and meatballs. The textures are a little different but the flavor seems to be much more complex...and addicting...

Do any restaurants/stores in NO sell that tea with the little balls in it?

Pho Orchid- one block off Veterans on Houma Blvd. I can't comment on the Pho there but I think the food is pretty damn good.

That tea is bubble tea, and Frosty's in Westwego and (I think) in Metairie has some of the best bubble tea around.

oh, it's a rip off if it's in the $7-$8 range, that's for sure.

So a footlong sandwich with pork and toppings that fills one up for lunch is a rip off if it's $7. Right...

Besides, whether or not something is a rip off is up to the customer.

When you can get the same thing for 3.50 it is.

There are certain ethnic foods where folks think they can garner a certain amount of "cred" by telling or proving to everyone else how cheap they can find them - often in some secret hole in the wall spot, only those in-the-know are aware of.

The two I most often see are various Vietnamese foods and "authentic" Mexican tacos.

They are $3 at Saigon, but they are small, about 8 inches. Two of them still costs less than one at tasty casian, though.

However, both are rip offs compared to what you get at dong phuong for less than five bucks.

They are about 6 inches and very narrow, but a bit better bread. TC is a bit longer and much wider.
