Sorry should have mentioned it was run by a JV squad. Guess you are sitting in that annex room with the ambiance of a insane asylum.

Man. The food wasn't bad, but it was overpriced for what you get. I mean canned corn at a place with $60 entree? Creme brulee with the texture of whipped cream?

Even with the Coolinary menu we wound up paying $167 with tip and tax. I can eat almost anywhere in the city for that.
Plus I have a headache from that stupid table. At least my server rushed the food out when I asked him too. After I saw the manager wasn't going to do anything about the loud table that had already caused two other tables to walk out, I just asked to have my food rushed. Even still the medium steak came out closer to well done, and with grill marks that tasted like uncleaned grill.
I think the appetizers we had (oysters and Calamari) were good. But the atmosphere sucked, and it's just not worth the prices they charge.

Also people in shorts and t shirts, so don't worry about not wearing a jacket. At least I can say I went here. I don't have to go back.
(wish I had just gone to Mizado again)

Place won't be open for long. Does Tom still rate it 5 stars? What a joke.

"5 star in my book!"

Place stays open because there are 7 million people who come to New Orleans each year. Big group dinners, conventioneers, and coolinary/reveillion keep them open. Location helps.

Basically everything but the food

Definitely not worth the prices. When we sat down before we were greeted my first impression was bad and I wanted to get up and go but we decided to stay.
I wish I had left. The panneed fish I got was very dry. They ran out of crab meat so it was topped with chewy lobster instead.
The potatoes and green beans it came with were good, but the obvious canned corn seemed mis placed.

Now her steak was cooked until not a bit of pink was left. I guess one can say it was only $42 for the steak. But to not have it at temp?
Of course we didn't send it back. As soon as entrees hit the table I asked for dessert and the check.
The loudness was indescribable, like the dome during the championship game.
Other tables would mock the loud table. Old people would come up to us and joke. "I hope you weren't trying to have a conversation". It was a bad experience.

Then the price was up there. I've eaten much better for less.
Sadly the last six high end places we have tried have let us down.
Need to stick to Brennan's family and Besh and Emeril places. Seriously.

You look at the menu and think "wow only $39" but after drinks and tip, it's $168.

Plenty of better places in town for a hundred dollar date night.

When I first booked, in my mind I was thinking it was a well received place. My fiance said that she would of rather ate Uptown or the CBD as well. Plus my lot I always use in the quarter went up, now it's $15 for three hours parking. arghh. (she won't let me parallel park after missing reservations at Rib Room looking for a free spot)

Hopefully next week I pick a better Coolinary option. I'm glad my friends back out as I had offered to treat them, and I would be that much lighter today. #cheapskate

Yes, as a matter of fact Tom rates it 5 stars. You have a problem with that?

For what you spent, the two of you could have sat at the bar at say Coquette or La Petite, ordered a cocktail apiece, a good bottle of wine 4 apps and a dessert.

Restaurants wouldnt do these deals if it wasnt in their favor.

Not a big deal to me. As long as I'm within a few days of the expiration date I'm good to go.

The appetizers were great. Had we stayed at the bar, listened to the old man play piano and had drinks only with apps and desert I would have a different review. I think the quality didn't match the price, the fish was dryer, the steak over cooked and the char marks had that taste that was like.. You know when you go to the BBQ at your white trash friend's house, and he has that webber BBQ pit that sits uncovered with mosquito water in it? He only empties it out for that one bbq a year that he gets the tube ground meat and the red hot dogs and he never cleans his grill? Well the char on this steak tasted like the char on that grill, if that makes any sense.
Then I mean a 5oz fillet, how do you over cook it?

The noise in that room was the worst, I'm sure that one 10 top had a great time. Just ruined everyone else's time.

We like to try new places sometimes and we can't love them all.

I had to literally yell to make it so my fiance or the waiter could hear me. I tell you it was horrible.
At that particular point I decided to vent my frustration here so that if I did get drunk I would remember how bad it was.
