I agree. I wish they had some chargrilled oysters.

Last time I wen they had these fried redfish collars as an appetizer and wow was that some great stuff. Been there 4 times and haven't had a bad meal. But it is loud as all get out

They had fried snapper collars when I was there, and they were by far the best thing I had, and I'd order pretty much everything I got again.

I looked for the collars specifically, but they weren't in the menu. Hopefully, next time.

Sorry you had a bad experience at Tujaque's - I've been several times since the son took over, and its always been good; its not an A list place, more of a neighborhood eatery, but still good. My experiences at R'Evolution are also different. Its a lovely space and the wait staff is the best in the city. But, I've found the food lacking - big time.

I wasn't expecting a 5 star experience at Tujague's. I knew it might be average or a bit above. I was surprised at how poor the service and food worked out. My expectations weren't high, but this was awful food. We really went more for historical reasons than the food.

I know there have been mixed experiences at R'evolution. My expectations were lower than the outcome there, as well. I'd like to try dinner there next.

Too bad you didn't try the shrimp at Peche because they really are good. The best peal and eat shrimp I've ever had. They have kind of a lobster taste and texture.

What do your friends think when you're taking all these pictures ? Do you tell them you are the best poster on the official food and drink board of the LSU Tigers ? Do you take notes ? Now I'm very hungry and will try to sneak off to one I these places for a quick bite.

So much food. Just didn't taste every single thing. I've had royal reds many times, so I opted to taste some other things.

My friends and family send ME pics of their food all the time.

No indeed. This is my place and I'm not the best poster. Takes a lot of people to make this board as interesting as it is most of the time.

Not at the restaurant. If the menu is different from what's on line, I ask for a copy and mark it up a little when I get home. I got a copy of the Peche menu and the specials since it varied. Also got a copy of the R'evolution menu, but I didn't mark that one up since Folse signed it.

Nice review!

Certainly no surprise to hear glowing reviews of Peche and Domenica. 2 of my absolute favorites.

Sad to hear about Tujaque's, I know the new chef there and was hoping he would turn it around.

Irene's is pretty overrated. It's reputation speaks to the lack of quality Italian places in town. IMO

Glad you liked Revolution, I've had some good experiences there. I do think their dinner is much better then lunch/brunch. I'm sure BO will be around soon to clobber the place.

Tujague's may have kept some of the old recipes which aren't his. The oysters en brochette were poorly executed, though, and the sauce was way too strong. Having never been there before, I can't compare it to any other visits.

I'd always heard very good things about Irene's and it wasn't a total bust. It's not a place to which I would consider returning, though. I love Vincent's for Italian.

I have no idea whether Easter brunch is comparable to a regular brunch or lunch since this was our first time, but I'd like to return for a dinner.

Great reviews! Thanks!

When you had originally shared your list, I silently cringed for you when I saw Tujague's...but I knew you didn't want any suggestions. I was hoping it would be good though.
