I know it's gotten bad reviews here but I can't find them. My sister and bro in law want to go tonight and have invited me. Trying to convince them to go elsewhere.

Any help? TIA

ETA: If you get your name on the list now at the Velvet Cactus, you should get a table before they close.

If they pay, you should go.

ETA: Then come back here and tell us all about it.

If you go and it's bad, they will check it off their list and you'll never need to go again. If you try to change their minds, you might not get invited to dinner with them again. Just go. It can't be that bad.

ETA: Well, maybe it could be that bad. Order a lot of booze and a salad. Go somewhere else after they drop you off.

If you do go, just get fried seafood. It's hard to frick up and worse cause scenario, douse it in Tabasco.

Went a week or two ago. My half shrimp half oyster poyboy was plenty decent enough, and the softshell crab was better than I expected it to be. Basically everything else at the table was mediocre at best.

Ok I went. Just left. Average at best. Could get as good or better at anywhere. Nothing fresh. Seemed to be all frozen then fried. At 7:30 on a Friday night it was only half full. I don't see them making it. Which is sad as I root for any business especially the local ones. Hope they can see this and right the ship

It only took the Pat's people about 2 years to open the place, and then they top it off with mediocre food and high prices. I wonder if Pat's crawfish étouffée is as nasty as the one at City Cafe?

I don't think I can remember a new restaurant being so roundly criticized, both on TD and IRL.

That's too bad for them.

Love ground patti. Go to the Lafayette stores still. Wish they would come back to BR

Just had lunch at this place, add it to the list of restaurants that are going to be closing soon. I might actually root for it to fail based on the straight up robbery that happens with the way they overcharge you...$15 for a bowl of gumbo, $19 for six stuffed mushrooms, $20 for five stuffed shrimp? The menu prices are crazy for the most terrible to average-at-best items.

One of us got a shrimp poboy...$11, it's the only acceptably priced menu item, but it's $11 for literally six shrimp, three apiece on each side. It was an average poboy. One of us got the "Lunch Platter" for $12, seafood dressing, which was actually just cold, off-putting rice pilaf, one stuffed shrimp, one stuffed crab, two fried shrimp, and a piece of fried fish, it was serviceable. Got it because fried stuff's hard to frick up. A buddy spent $20 on the seafood salad, he let us try it, and it was literally one of the grossest things I've ever tasted....the "crab" tasted like fish flakes you'd put in your tank which was appropriate because the crawfish tasted like they had come from a fish tank. You know how fish tanks smell? That's exactly what the crawfish tasted like, I put it in my mouth, and took it out. It was bizarre that they could even get it to taste like that. My friend told the server how bad the seafood was, and he said "I'll tell the chef, but he doesn't appreciate when people criticize his food."

If you have to go, stick to fried stuff, and expect to pay twice as much as you would in any other restaurant in this town for some of the worst to average food. Luckily, a buddy paid for mine, so I wasn't out anything. If Pat's charged half as much they probably still wouldn't make it, but with what they're charging, no way they make it.

Line of the week. His creditors won't like it when he can't pay his bills.

Waking up to reality is a bitch or a blessing, depending on the size of one's ego.

I knowing digging up an old thread, but I wanted to concur everything that's been said. Went last night. BAD sign if you are a seafood restaurant during lent and you barely have a crowd on a FRIDAY.

Some of the worst seafood I've ever eaten.
