re: Part time Daycare in BR for a 10 month old - Please keep here.. I trust you guys

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I am meeting with First Christian Acadamy tomorrow. They arent cheap and its full time, but its looking like my best bet.
I talked to a few nanny type situations, but they are just as much or more than full time day care. Also not much class type games or education. Im a believer in social experience.
Hopefully we can nail a spot at FCA. most of the other places ive called have no availability or are over 200/week and its not even the full day... (till five)

OP you are looking for a " Mother's day out" program. Search for these as they fit your needs better. Most day cares only want full time children. MDO are catered to taking kids on a part time basis. Your office should be able to help you find one. Good Luck

Both of my girls (3 yrs and 1.5 yrs) have been at FCA since they were infants.
We've been really happy with them to date. When looking we found a lot of 'play only' daycares and daycares where the kids sat in front of TVs for hours a day, but we were looking for something with at least some type of educational program.
FCA seemed to have a good mix between play time and a educational program. Our girls love it over there and are excited to go to school and see their friends and teachers on Mondays.

He said he's looking for a full-day ('til after 5), but it sounds like he only needs it a few days a week. In my experience, most Mother's Day Out programs will do a few days a week, but they usually have shorter hours, like 9-2 or 9-3.

A lot of places i called today do not have any vacancies. Except First Christian Academy. Ill try there and just suck up the cost. KIDS ARE EXPENSIVE!

I would imagine you're going to be paying more than this if you have someone in your home. Just in my experience. So if you're trying to avoid that rate, full time pay at a daycare is what you should go for. I can't imagine paying FT at the daycare comes to the same amount as paying a person a few days a week for the hours you need.
I've used sittercity.com before. I'm not sure how much it's used in this area, but you can be very specific about what you want/need from a babysitter or nanny.

University Methodist isn't bad on the prices and had good staff. We were there until my daughter got accepted into LSU dayschool. Kindercare has half days and was good as well. They also have before school/after school and may do a part time schedule. We moved there for aftercare when she was old enough to attend La Prinatere. Cheers and good luck, it's tough being a single dad with a job.

May want check First Step daycare downtown BR. We Have had both my girls there for a few years and they are great. Our Oldest just started kindergarten, and we decided to leave my 3 y/o there cause of the program and directors. We live in Prairieville, so it isn't the most convenient for us. They do not offer part time though. Hours are 7 to 530 I think.

Care.com is a really good site to find what you are looking for. People are tated based on real experiences with others and you can actually chrck references as well.
