I think I have some 12 or 13 in the back of the fridge somewhere.

They’ve had oats in all their ipa’s forever.

I'd consider a 4pack if it is distributed.
I'm not driving to Broussard for it.

I remember it selling out immediately the first year or two. I had to leave work in the middle of the day to buy 2012, I know that much. We were so desperate for a decent craft beer from a local brewery at the time.

They were lean times, for sure. Hell, we were so desperate we used to think stale Dr. Octagon was good.
I talk shite about Parish now for fun, but OG GR was a sort of first wave LA brewery GOAT that had a lot of us shitloarding hard. I'm guilty.

I haven’t been to Parish since the first DDH Ghost bottle release in September 2018. All these special releases are too rich for my blood, but I sure don’t blame them for pricing them like they do. If you’re going to sell out all of it via presale in a matter of minutes at $40/bottle, why would you charge $20/bottle?

I have 1k beers that are smaller than 750ml. Good beers, just like nice wine isn’t for everyone. Sorry

I said that as long as they were selling out bottles at $35/bottle they'd hit y'all with $38/bottle. Well. I was wrong.
The same thing that I always do, comparing it to Trillium -- BA pastry stouts from Trillium are $26.05/bottle. I guess it's just more expensive to brew and then age a pastry stout in Broussard than it is in Boston? lol
Good on Godley for getting his payday, but if you support this you're stupid. The base beer was diabetes sweet and not worth buying, in my opinion, and I can't imagine this being so good as to be worth the price tag.
Caribbean Shade was really good. I tasted it and hated to admit it, but it was good. But it wasn't $35/bottle good. And there's no way this is $40/bottle good. And it will still sell out as people hope to razzle it or flip it for other things, and Parish will continue to think they make Side Project/Three Chiefs/Hill Farmstead/J Wake quality stouts that they can sell at exorbitant prices. Because they can. Because people are buying it. If you want this to stop, stop buying it.

Hazy IPAs aren't really my thing, and I haven't had many of Parish's recent releases, so I'm not a good person to ask. I will say BI retails for $16-$18 around here. Plus I don't have to go to the brewery if I want any. Both breweries write stupid descriptions, so they've got that going for them.

Listen, i get the beer having to be more expensive than a standard stout. I mean, you're putting fancy chocolates and "tahitian" vanilla. Ok, scratch the vanilla part, but yeah, they're adding fancy chocolates to it, so maybe they are adding so much that they are raising the price of the beer to cover the raw materials cost. But, i have a hard time buying that those costs would necessitate a $40 price tag. I'd find it hard to believe it would fetch a $30 price tag.

Exactly. People paid $35 for a stout last time, so they are seeing how high they can push the envelope before their beer sits on a shelf.
Personally, i never understood the idea of adding chocolate to a stout. The malts used already hint at chocolate notes. So adding a shite load of chocolate, whether it be fancy or nestle, overwhelms any beer flavor left in the bottle.
That goes for other additives in beer as well. The SIPS series, while tasty, is on the border of what i consider beer vs. just a fruit cocktail. Now don't get me wrong, the Mimosa SIPS i had at the chimes was fantastic, but it really didn't taste like beer. And the same goes with my favorite beer from Parish, Reve'. I always have some reve' in the fridge, because it tastes like coffee, and i'm bordering on being a coffee nerd as well as a beer nerd. Well, i was at the store this week and picked up Berserker Mode from SoPro. That was a damn good beer. It's not so overpowering with coffee, that you don't know it's a beer. It's a really great balance of beer with hints of coffee.
Parish isn't the only one either, with the additives. Hell i do it to some of my homebrews, but i tend to stick with traditional additives. Like fresh fruits, but i don't want the additive to be the only thing you taste.
Stouts are becoming the worst with all the shite they throw in there. I went to Angry Chair when i was in tampa and they had 5 different stouts on tap, and i don't think a single one didn't have some sort of additive. I had the Tiramasu and it was good, but man it was very sweet. And then i went over to 7eventh Sun and tried a flight of their sours without knowing it was teh same quick sour with different things added. They were all pretty meh. And then we have some local N.O. breweries throwing gummy bears, sour patch kids, fruit by the foot, etc... in the beer, which is fine. It's fun to do that sort of thing. I just wish more breweries would focus on making a really good base style, along with the one offs with adjuncts in them.

Burials limited IPA 4packs they pump out biweekly are 18-20 and people consistently line up for them at the Burial taproom here... 500ml bottles usually start at $18 for their special releases. they sure are good though.

Very good beer. It’s vastly flying under the radar. It was only $9.99 for a six pack and weighs in at around 10%.

IDGAF how many breweries out there are pumping out hyped up BA stouts and getting away with it. I'm not going to debate with anybody about secondary market prices vs value. I live in the epicenter of the bourbon hype bubble, and while I will line up at 5am for a chance at pappy or BTAC I am never going to pay gray market prices for it.
Do you know what else comes in 750ml bottles and has notes of vanilla, caramel, spice, chocolate etc? Bourbon. And when a fifth of barrel aged stout that yields two pours is priced as high as a fifth of good bourbon that yields 20 that's when I say no thanks.
Imagine the profit margins of buying a couple bourbon barrels, aging your usual stout in them in a warehouse in BFE and then charging $40 a fifth. 53 gallons in a barrel is 200 liters. More than $8000 of barrel aged stout after sales. 5bbl batch of stout fills four bourbon barrels. You do the math

I understand. Just don’t see why there is always backlash to these releases. Everyone in this thread is explaining what/why they are doing but are still in an uproar. The market is allowing them to do it so they are doing it. Large groups are very quick to judge and tell other ppl how to spend their money. Find that comical.

I get this for sure. But you do have to consider the laws in each state. Parish, by law, can only sell 10% of what they produce direct to consumers. The other 90% has to be sold to distributors at pennies on the dollar. Trillium, on the other hand, is able to sell every drop of beer they produce at retail prices to consumers at taprooms and beer gardens they own.
Again, I'm not going to pay $40 for a bottle of beer, but other people will. I'm also not going to pay $400+ for a bottle of Pappy, but again, other people will.
