These big ghost crabs? Looks like something you’d catch on a beach. We asked, before we ordered, if they were blue crabs and were told yes. Suspicious...

A friend in the seafood industry told me to check for the points on either side of the shell. If the crab shell is rounded, they are not Louisiana crabs. Louisiana labeling law requires notification of source of crawfish and shrimp if they come from another country. They should extend the law to crabs and certain species of fish as well.

Almost looks like a stone crab, but you can tell it’s not because of the claws.

That’s some weird shite...both the crabs and the body parts.

I would eat it. Smaller are sweeter and less fishy tasting.

My stepdaughter got a soft shell crab dinner from "The Galley" on Metairie Rd. yesterday and that damn crab had to be a good 7 inches across.

One of the biggest softshell crabs I've ever seen served in a plate lunch.

Oh, and it was a blue crab for sure.

Blue crabs in general are glorious, and soft shells can be transcending.

This example however had no redeeming quality.
