I see your point. I interpreted the question as a dining experience unique to New Orleans rather than guaranteed excellent.

I am looking at Saturday March 21st.

and you can't get a reservation? are you calling the restaurant?

I am not trying to rely on Open Table. That's why I was looking for a number for Commander's Palace. All the numbers on their website are disconnected.
Anyway, I would prefer August or R'evolution.

Ouch, tough date.
Coquette has a 630 or 830
Lilette has tables all night
both are top notch upscale restaurants

The rest are fantastic restaurants. Commander's, however, is the most overrated restaurant in the city. The food is serviceable at best and no where near worth the price.
I've never had a meal or appetizer there that blew me away, in fact ive never even had a memorable meal there. Usually i've forgotten what i had before i make it to my car.

call Galitores and ask for Billy. Tell him two longtimers of his sent you,I'll give you names later and he will take you downstairs where the true experience is.

Tons of great places do have reservations that night, with varying degrees of "fancy".
Herbsaint (this would be a great choice, but the only available stuff is at 630), Coquette, Atchafalaya, Dante's Kitchen, Doris Metropolitan, Domenica, Le Petit Grocery, Lilette, Patois, Root, Revolution (9pm), Sylvain, Square Root, etc etc all have openings.
Revolution sounds like what you are looking for.
But Le Petite Grocery, Coquette, Herbsaint, Sylvain are all excellent places.

Calling Billy at Galatoire's. Thank you!

Lilette is a can't miss. If they have a table, grab it.
Herbsaint is very good, although not as "romantic" for an anniversary
Gautreau's would be perfect if they have a table

Wow, I'd be curious to know what your favorite places in New Orleans are? Commanders is my favorite...
