Headed for work next week. Will have one night to dine out solo and staying in the Georgetown area. It’s been a few years since I’ve been to DC and I know the food scene has exploded there, so where does the board recommend I go? TIA.

Old Ebbits Grill is great for a guy by himself. Spring special is sautéed shad roe... timing may be bad. It's moved around DC a bit. Now in hotel across from Treasury. That's not a bad hike from Georgetown. Uber/taxi if you want. Metro from Georgetown is hardly worth the effort... no time saved.

Man I love the burger at Old Ebbitt. Was thinking of trying something new but hard to beat that place.

If you want a GREAT burger then hit Good Stuff Eatery. There's one in Georgetown.

Filomena in Georgetown was a great experience if you like Italian food. Very old school looking Italian dining room. Get a reservation

The two main suggestions are great. You can get 100 suggestions but if you have never been to Old Ebbitt’s it is a cool experience.
Filomena’s is also great. Thinking those are the last two places I have eaten dinner in the DC area.
Actually looks like I will be doing lunch at Old Ebbitt’s this Saturday.
Good luck

+1

Also le diplomate is a good and lively French spot (haven’t been in a few years tho). And while haven’t been to his original DC flagships, went to Fiola in Miami and had an excellent meal recently, so any of Fabio Traboochi’s spots are worth a visit.

Neal Bodenheimer of Cure, et al. Also has Dauphine up there and have heard nothing but great things as well.

Appreciate it. I love Indian food. As a solo diner I’m guessing I could eat at the bar without much of a wait.

I have been to Rasika and Old Ebbits Grill. Both are very enjoyable, Rasika for the delicious Indian food and Ebbits for good food in a fun and historic atmosphere. The only downside is that they are nowhere near where you are staying in Georgetown.

Easy cab ride though. We walked to both from the Willard Hotel.

There’s a Rasika in West End walking distance to Georgetown. Also tends to be less crowded than the original but the food and atmosphere is the same.

Used to live a block away which was very dangerous.
