I have a glut of dried chickpeas. Any good non-hummus chickpea recipes? My usual is an Italian style soup w/kale & sausage, or a channa masala curry. What else ya got....

Chana Masala is always a favorite of mine. Don't have a recipe, but shouldn't be too hard to locate one you like.

I love roasting chickpeas and just eating them as a snack. Not sure how well it works with already dried chickpeas, but crank up the oven to 450, toss in olive oil and Tony's, and throw them in the oven until done (stirring occasionally)

Have you thought about making a non-chickpea hummus?

If you like indian food..you can make some chickpea dumplings. I had some the other day that were delicious

I’m presently making channa masala in the pressure cooker. 16 minutes! We’ll see how it stacks up to the non-pressure cooker version I usually make. Onions, ginger, garlic, plus whole cumin toasted along with the onions, then turmeric, cardamom, a can of whole tomatoes, some salt....I’ll probably add a squeeze of lemon once it’s done.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.

It turned out great....except it’s too thin. Good flavor, tender peas, so I’m simmering away some of the liquid. I fished out two ladles of peas/liquid, put it in a skillet, and poached two eggs in the peas/liquid for immediate consumption. Will put the rest of the cooked-down chickpeas into the freezer for later.
All of this reminds me that I need to use my pressure cooker more often.

Hey, what's the difference between a chickpea and a garbanzo bean?
Posted on 11/3/17 at 7:19 pm to hungryone
Thiness is my only issue with pressure cooking. Corn starch is your friend in those situations.
Glad the Chana tasted good.

Chickpea = garbanzo. No diff.
There is a varietal chickpea prized in southern Italy—I forget the name—but it’s a bit smaller than the fat ones common in the US.
