I was going through Jackson about a year ago and stopped at Newks for lunch. I was talking to the general manager about the restaurant group buying the franchise rights for NOLA. He said that he had just come back from meetings in NOLA and there would be an announcement soon about the location for 2 restaurants. I haven't heard anything since. Anyone have any info?

Info: it's sad to be looking forward to a Newk's in one of the best food cities in the world.

Move to Metairie and live off of Red Lobster and Olive Garden.

Spoken like someone that's never had Newks. Or perhaps I missed where it was compared to the best local places New Orleans has to offer.

Newks was great the one time I had it hungover in Oxford, MS. Also, isn't Newks the same family that started and sold Mcalisters? Then they started Newks shortly after, wonder if there was a falling out or something.

I have a Newks less than a mile from my house... I've been there a ton of times.

I have no idea, but there is no comparing the two. Newk's is so much better than Mcalisters.

Well then props on being the typical food board douche for no reason then.

For having an opinion that it's just another chain restaurant?

No, had you just posted that, it would have been fine.

Fail. There's no Olive Garden in Metairie.

Newk’s was founded in 2004 by Don Newcomb, Debra Bryson and Chris Newcomb. The team had previously created and launched the McAlister’s Deli concept. Led by their exacting and trend-setting vision, it quickly became one of the fastest growing fast casual restaurants of the time. After establishing strong upward growth for McAlister’s Deli, the founding team sold the chain and soon began to focus on their new venture – Newk’s Eatery.

From Newks website. But I 100% agree that Newks is better than Mcalisters

The first Newks is right down the street from the first McAlister's. Both are very close to the Ole Miss campus.

It's coming. These types of franchises like to build multiple locations in one area in pretty short order. There are two in Lafayette, two in Baton Rouge, and a couple on the MS coast.

Within a year I would guess you would see a couple in the NOLA suburbs.

As far as McAlister's, I loved them when I was in Hattiesburg for school for a couple of years, I think the one on Hardy was the 4th one they had. So very early on. Not at all impressed by the franchise locations today.
