One of the highlights from our trip was a speakeasy in Louisville called Hell or high water. It’s behind Hotel Distel. You will have to make reservations. Extremely cool vibe and relaxing music. We were seated downstairs in the library. The wives sat on a chaise lounge and my BIL and I had leather chairs. Comfortable and relaxing. Since it’s limited seating you’re not packed like sardines. Had a reservation for 2 hours and would have liked to sit there all evening.
I worked with him for many years and I second what many have said here. He is VERY meticulous in the OR. It is not uncommon for him to be in the OR 8-12 hours trying to get as many tumors out as possible. God forbid if I ever get a neuroendocrine tumor I’d seek him out for sure. They had people from all over the country that would fly to Kenner to see him. Patients love him!

Ended up going to Parish. Great menu. Ended up getting a cauliflower app to share that was on special that night and was skeptical at first but it was fantastic. Shared Brussels also...very good. Chose redfish on the half shell topped with lump crabmeat very very good also. Would have chosen the duck or steak had it not been a Friday in Lent. The wife got shrimp and grits so I got to try it. Good grits, great shrimp. Overall great experience. I would definitely recommend it.

Thanks for the advice. It has been one kid at a time. Going to keep working at it. I just hope it is not too slow of a process.

Yes dog laying on bed. They walk up call his name and squat down. They reached out to pet him the first night but not since. As soon as they squat down he growls. The dog is completely opposite with me and the wife. I really hope he settles as he becomes more comfortable in his new environment.

Dog obedience help

Posted by LSUCRNA on 12/13/17 at 10:12 pm
We got a rescue on Sunday. A 3-4 year old terrier mix per the vet. Rescue said shih tzu/poodle mix. The wife and I go to the rescue to meet the dog and get a feel for how it would fit in our family. Sweet dog think it will be fine. We have 3 kids, 13, 9, 5. Go in great detail with the kids how we need to take our time with the dog to let him learn new surroundings and our family and we need to learn about his temperament. Kids meet the dog Sunday afternoon all is well that night kids are going to bed and go tell the dog goodnight and he growls at them. I correct the dog and tell the kids to back away. Monday morning all is well the Monday evening same thing. I correct again. Same scenario Tuesday. Tonight happens again so I flip the dog on his back and have the 2 oldest kneel over him while I have them look him in the eye. I have obedience training in the process of being set up. Any advice on something else to do before the trainer get started? I can't allow the dog to growl and get snippy with my kids.

Certified reconditioned cell phone

Posted by LSUCRNA on 6/30/17 at 6:13 am
So my son took his iPhone swimming a couple days ago and it is dead. I took the phone to a repair place and they tried to dry it out unsuccessfully. My question is has anyone bought a certified reconditioned phone from eBay, gazelle, amazon, Verizon(my carrier), etc. I just can't see spending $700 on a new phone for a 13 year old who swears he learned his lesson. The reconditioned phones are $350. How is the quality? Any problems? Any pitfalls I should be on the lookout for? TIA

Salt and pepper, egg wash (egg only), then dip in panko. Pan fry in a little olive oil medium heat. Only about 3-4 min each side.

Check this one out. I never would have believed it would work until I saw it with my own eyes. It is slightly bigger than a cell phone but holds a charge for 6 months. Watched it take a car battery that wouldn't turn on the radio and started it within 10 seconds (hooked up the cables and went to the ignition and it started without hesitation). They have one specifically for marine use.
Dat's some funny shite Dere! How is life in Aggie land? Any chance you heading back to Point Breaux?

Newks in NOLA?

Posted by LSUCRNA on 5/4/16 at 8:52 am
I was going through Jackson about a year ago and stopped at Newks for lunch. I was talking to the general manager about the restaurant group buying the franchise rights for NOLA. He said that he had just come back from meetings in NOLA and there would be an announcement soon about the location for 2 restaurants. I haven't heard anything since. Anyone have any info?

re: Kamado Joe

I bought the big joe (24 in") about a year ago and the only regret is not buying one earlier. It does take awhile to get accustomed to cooking on them. The first time I cooked burgers I ran inside to do something got distracted for a couple minutes. I hadn't learned to art of temperature control yet and came back to a pit filled with hockey pucks cooking away at nearly700 degrees. I can cook almost a 10lb bag of leg quarters at a time, but prefer cooking whole chickens now. With a rib stand you could easily get 4-6 racks. I chose the Kamado Joe because after spending years looking at the big 3 (BGE, Joe, Primo) they are all about the same but you get more accessories with the Initial Joe purchase. Pull the trigger you won't regret it!
