New york strip vs Ribeye

If you were to cook a ribeye and new york strip to your liking and blind taste test them, do you think you could tell the difference?
In my opinion, other than the fatty outer ring of the ribeye giving away the texture you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
FWIW I prefer the strip over the ribeye. Same flavor, just as tender, less fatty.
What say you?

I definitely think I could.
Sirloin v. Strip, maybe not.

uh, yeah
Strip > Ribeye in my book, but it's very close.

I have grown to prefer the strip, over previously preferring the ribeye... yes, I believe I could tell the difference..

Ribeye is easily my favorite cut of meat.

I don't know, but I would like to volunteer to test your theory. You can do the cooking and I'll do the eating.

It's not like the strip doesn't have fat.

Same.
But I don't know if I could blindly taste a difference without first being able to eat them un-blindfolded because I eat steak probably no more than 4 times a year.

Like the ribeye better. the NYS is more firm. Crescent City Steak House on Broad makes a really good NYS.

I can tell the difference. It is a different flavor and texture. I eat strips more than anything just don't go past medium rare.
And a good medium rare sirloin is hard to beat too. Slice thin sea salt and pepper.

I haven't had a sirloin in years. I should try one again. They sell prime sirloin at costco

I don't know if it is the lighting or just those particular steaks, but given the choice in those two particular steaks I would take the strip. Usually, however, I find the rib eye is going to have more fat and better marbling.

Ok.. The strip is a prime cut the ribeye is not. Bad comparison.
Here is a comparable ribeye
