Had our reception at the blue room. Anything the roosevelt has is too big for a 60-80 person reception. Not to mention that it costs an arm and a leg.

Coquette does receptions. It's awesome.
ETA: I'm sure a buyout there is pricey, though.

Have it on the Westbank at the Four Columns. The mini muffaletta's are the tits.

The Roosevelt Hotel's Blue Room

had ours at The Windsor Court but that was a full on 400+ person affair. Not sure about a smaller room
went to one recently where they used the second floor of Tableau - it was a nice setting/food/booze

That's a very interesting option. Looks like their "Green Room" seats up to 70.
Did the wedding have a band setup? I wonder if there's space for that.

They used multiple rooms for this wedding. They had a band set-up in one, and we had use of the second floor balcony which was nice.food was good - Turtle soup, bbq shrimp and grits, steamship round, an oyster boat full of oysters on the half sell, boiled shrimp and crab claws. I was full for days.

I think I know some of these folks second lining.

That looks like a pretty tame second line.
I'm going to a wedding in October, reception is at the Columns.

TBD. Fiancee is a Texas girl who doesn't understand the need to add a parade to our wedding.

Sully Mansion - I haven't been to one here yet, but it looks beautiful. I'm going to a wedding there on the 13th.
The Chickory
Rosy's Jazz Hall
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT pick Magnolia Mansion on Prytania. It's a gorgeous setting, but the food was pretty bad, and the worst was that the owner was hitting on all of the wedding guests. At one point he sat down at our table and hit on my friend until she got so uncomfortable, she got up and went sit at another table. It was so unprofessional.

Had a cousin get married at Southern Oaks Plantation not too long after Katrina. Beautiful venue and good food, but I thought I was going to die driving there.

Southern Oaks is indeed beautiful, and the food is great, and plentiful.

To me Southern Oakds is the best all around reception venue in the area when you factor in value and service, etc.
The owners are extremely hands on and watch everything to make sure it is perfect.
Probably not what the OP had in mind though due to location.
My suggestion would be the Calcasieu by Donald Link

I hear good things about Rosies.
Just be sure and get something booked soon. New Orleans has been the #1 wedding destination city in the country for several years now and it shows with how early all of these places get booked up.

You're definitely right about that. My friend started looking a year ago for her venue. She decided on The Audubon Tea Room. Even with booking a year in advance, she took the very last weekend night that they had available in 2015, which was a Friday night in March.
