Here's an article on this. I don't know if its ever been enforced.

Businesses had to pay fees or fines for sidewalk seating outdoors. Do you think Latoya will move to waive those fees in view of the current situation?
I know the answer is likely "no", but geez, now would be a good time to allow this, in my opinion.

I really wasn't trolling, but I figured I'd get some laughs.

She will double the fees just because she can. She will do nothing at all in any way to help any business.

I had no idea you could block sidewalks.

Ultimately it would be included with the cost of rent in the long run. Or mortgage. If you have patio seating out back that's free in comparison. The city is broke I don't see them waiving methods to make money but who knows.

It was initially enforced and then restaurant owners threw a fricking fit and enforcement went to the wayside.

Apparently, they are relaxing the sidewalk rules for awhile.

New Orleans restaurants now allowed to use private parking areas, sidewalks to expand food service... New Orleans is suspending enforcement of off-street parking requirements for restaurants and bars allowed to serve food and will issue temporary sidewalk-use permits in order to provide additional outdoor seating.

The Department of Safety and Permits said Sunday that the new rules will be in effect through Sept. 30

No permits are needed for food-service establishments that want to use private parking areas for outdoor seating as long as that seating is properly socially distanced.
To use the sidewalk, establishments can get a temporary Sidewalk Use Permit from the department with no permit or use fees charged.
