What a great experience. Wife and I went Saturday morning for the demo class. The chef cooked four meals while telling the history of the dishes, jokes and funny stories of growing up in LA. The food was great, Abita on tap also. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to try something different!

I’ve been thinking about doing this. How many hours is the class?

It took about three hours but he cooks four dishes while talking and engaging the crowd. Went by very fast. The hands on class next door seemed a little shorter.

My wife and I did this last year, and I completely agree. Well worth spending a few hours there.

I will say that I'm originally from Kansas, and fairly new to cajun food/cooking, so I think I took away more than someone who grew up down here would.

I used to attend the “New Orleans Cooking Experience” in an old 1800 building off of Esplande Ave. Several local top Chefs within New Orleans over the years would cook in front of you a 3+ course meal while sitting in the kitchen at the counter (an arms distance from the chef). Was limited to what I remember 6-10 people. Then would give you their recipe which was served in their restaurant. Was a great experience. Closed now.

I'm confused. Do you get to do any of the cooking or is it just the chef doing a demo?

I'm sure either way it was a great time, I'm just curious. My mother would love something like this so I'm keeping this in mind for future gifts.

I did this with family and Frank Brigsten was the chef and it was truly a great experience. Sad to see they don’t do it anymore.

I did the cooking experience as well. It really was an awesome experience. The girl I took with me also gave it up that night, so that was good as well.

You can do both. The hands on classes are smaller, but I haven't done it yet.

We did it as a team building experience a couple years ago. Teams of 4 at the different stations and we voted for best dish at the end. Presentation was key and got pretty exciting after a couple hours of beer and wine!

The food was pretty good. The apron we got to take home was cool. The experience was unlike anything I’ve ever done before.

Would do again.
