So next Friday is my monthly trip to Tulane for chemo. After treatment Ill be hungry enough to eat a house. I usually hit up Blue Oak, mainly because it's pretty to The Cancer center, afterwards and eat enough for two LOL! But TBO and this might not go over well with some, Blue Oak as I've said before is kinda mediocre for me, so I want try something new. Can I get opinions on the following:

Central City BBQ
Frey Smoked Meat
The Joint

Smoked out in Harahan.

Gonzo's Smokehouse in Luling if you are heading back west after your visit. You can preorder early in the week to make sure you get what you want and get in/out quickly.

Maybe that's why its so good. Would the product suffer if the did it everyday?

Was just speculation, theses guys are good so probably wouldn't happen. But some establishment suffer from compliancy. Therefore leading to consistency problems. I love Ruffino's but the one compliant I have is that sometimes they lack consistency in some of their dishes.

their products are a labor of love and also labor intensive like the boudin. I suspect since they have their process down they could maintain it.

Terry Blacks is one of the few places that are open 7 days a week, and their pits burn 24 hours a day. With the bbq market in LA I couldn’t imagine it would be financially worth it to be open much more than a weekend service. Smoking the meat is the easy part, it’s all of the prep work for meat and sides that takes so much time when you are doing everything in-house.

I think if he tried to run a fulltime restaurant it would.

The sellout every day model works well for product quality.

Central City is fantastic. Last went towards end of May. They didn’t have their ribs so I went with their Hogs for the Cause wings….

Not sure what you’ll be craving but highly suggest getting an order. Oh and the sweet corn spoonbread is a must. Hope this helps!

Moe's on Causeway for me. Haters can hate all you want, but Moe's is consistently good and their smoked wings are the best I've had.

This.

Most will laugh, but for the price it can’t be beat.

Blue oak was good when it was trendy to go there, but others have passed them.

Central City has been hit or miss for me the last few times.

The Joint is overrated.

Frey has never disappointed.

Moes is always consistent. Worth checking out

Call it what you want but The Joint was the only place to get decent BBQ in New Orleans before the Blue Oak's and CCBBQ's. I still like it but haven't been in a while.

Blue Oak is still good. You can make argument that others might be better but it's good BBQ.
