New concept going in the old Magpie downtown

Saw this today. I've been to the Vintage in New Orleans a couple of times. The concept works there simply due to its location (close to hipsters).
I didn't realize Perkins Provisions was doing well enough for this group to be expanding.
I hope something works out in that space downtown because it's really cool. Magpie seemed very poorly run operation, so maybe these guys will get it right?

People like to drink down here but damn! Getting to be a lot of options for the clientele.
Downtown still isn’t really attracting folks on weekends...especially mornings. See Magpie and Another Broken Egg.
Hell, even the staple that is Christina’s isn’t open on Sunday morning.
We’re just not Austin.

I'm not sure when people will learn that downtown BR only has a very limited market of people who are willing to pay more than $4 for breakfast or $12+ for lunch and aren't hanging around for drinks after work.

Agreed. I feel bad for the people opening these places with such an optimistic outlook at first. A friend of mine opened a bar downtown a couple weeks ago, and while I think the idea is awesome and the place looks great, my immediate thought was how I don't think I would open any concept I can think of down there.
I work downtown, and I get drinks after work all the time. But I don't get them down there. I get to my side of town and have them there.

Magpie could never figure out what it wanted to be, and it still managed to be fairly busy. I’m looking forward to this opening up.

"New Concept" with "craft" coffee and "gourmet" beignets.
Agree with the space, surprised that they're going to renovate.
You can get good coffee numerous places these days, they need to bring people in with the food.
