I need to meet a friend to take him for some decent Louisiana food. He's a New Yorker.

Herbsaint would be an excellent choice.

I would go to Luke, which is in that building.

Also across the street in the Intercontinental is Trenasse and it is good as well.

Luke is literally in the Hilton. Wouldn't call it classically Louisiana food but there are sufficient local nods to make it worth considering.

BonTon for cajun is close by and most New York visitors wouldn't make it there unless taken by a local.

Palace Cafe would also fit the bill.

Glassman for the win - Herbsaint is the best choice within a few blocks. Link does a damn fine bowl of gumbo.

Someone else mentioned it, but Luke is in the same building. Trenasse across the street. Bon Ton Cafe is a classic and a couple blocks away.

Good suggestions from others. Depends on what type of food to which you want to expose him. I like the Bon Ton suggestion if he's never had crawfish. Bon Ton has it year round in the way of a very good traditional stuffed heads bisque and etouffee, along with some other Cajun and New Orleans traditional dishes like amandine fish and bread pudding.

Isn't there a Drago's in that hotel? I would assume this would be your best bet.

Wrong Hilton - and the Drago's at that location is nowhere near as good as the original in Metairie.

It's on the menu all year round rather than seasonally and they use only Louisiana crawfish according to the owner. I've been at different times a year and never seen not offered.

Good, I would think. I've purchased the bisque and extra heads there, frozen to take home. Tastes just like it does in the restaurant. I would assume that during the off season, they use frozen tails just like I do. I always buy a stash of fresh tails for the off season. Crawfish freeze so well.

lol?

Drago's would never, ever be your best bet. Ever.

Herbsaint is the winning suggestion here, with Luke being a distant 2nd.
