Natchitoches must be a really small town

Ate at a place called "papa's". Which boasts "the best steaks in town".
Got a $27 16ox ribeye that seemed like it had been soaked in salt and was less than tender. For something that is supposed to be the best in town, this doesn't say much for the other places.
Anyone have other recs for Natchitoches? I'm sure i will be back there a few times in the next 4 yrs.

Haven't been in a while, but the Landing used to be pretty good.

Natchitoches is very small. It's basically just Front Street, which is like 100 yards long.
None of the restaurants are great, most are your standard "bar and grille" fare with fried food and average grilled items.
Mama's, Papa's, The Landing, Merci Beaucop, etc...all kind of the same but different scales.
Pioneer Pub at the end of Front Street is a cool place though. Decent tap list.

TBH there isn't much going on in natchitoches. there are some decent places but nothing that'll blow you away.
I haven't been up there in years now but Mariner's on sibley lake used to be the go-to seafood place in town...though last I heard it's lost its luster a little bit.
Gotta get a meat pie at lasyone's at least once tbh.
When I was in school there was a really good sandwich shop called La Farine, on Front Street..but that might also be gone.
tbh i think it's worth it if you're up there to make the trip out to Clarence and get a plate from Grayson's bbq. that's a little bit of a drive though.
Pioneer Pub makes a good burger, interesting little place.
If you like fried chicken, Southern Classic on Texas street was always worth it. but it's really a fast food place at heart, so don't expect too much.
And Chef Wok! Almost forgot about Chef Wok. Chinese take out. Honestly, it's really good. I used to eat well for like 3 days on a combo plate from here.

I just got a batch of live crawfish shipped to me from natchitoches today, so they are aces in my book right now.

I went to a nice coffee shop on Front Street years ago. The espresso was very good. But it was more expensive than Starbucks. I didn't think that was possible.

Maglieauxs on Front Street is pretty good. Nice patio overlooking the Cane too.

Somebody said southern classic. Without question that is my favorite food in that town.
They make red beans and rice a little different up there. :duck:
