Absolutely the worst tourist, crappy food. They advertised gulf fish and it is farmed raised poo talapia. Rip off prices too.

Congrats, you just described half the restaurants in the Quarter

Lower Garden Trilogy for me:

Half Moon
Down the Hatch
the Saint

My liver sustained damage during those years. Peak was when some frat boy put $20 in Down the Hatch jukebox and I coerced him into letting me pick a song.

I selected “who let the Dogs Out” 6 consecutive times.

Good times.

There was a restaurant at the top of the Marriott on Canal, not sure if it’s still there but back in the decade of the 1980s when i was a little kid we’d have big get togethers up there for their Sunday Jazz Brunch.. we’d arrive at like 10:30 am and stay til 2 or 3pm, just grazing the whole time while a jazz band roamed around and waiters kept the grownups’ glasses full of mimosas…. The view was spectacular, and even though im now in my 40s- it was still one of the best dining experiences ive ever had….. Hyatt had a similar place called Top of the Dome that spun around, but i dont rememeber the food being quite as good .

It's a dive, but I spent many nights at LeBon Temps Roule on Magazine. Good times.

Pepper Keenan owns the joint, wouldn’t expect anything but a good time.

Houstons in Metairie,

I could never ever understand the appeal of that Houston’s… of course that dip was pretty good tasting- but traditionally chain restaurants like Houston’s havent fared well in the NOLA metro.. yet somehow there was always a 90 min wait to get into that Houston’s on a Friday night.. i still dont get it .

A restaurant that I miss is Streetcar sandwiches. The smoked red fish poboy was outstanding. They served smoked wings before wings were popular and they were delicious. The aroma from the restaurant as you got near it was mouthwatering.
